Carmela Coffee - Wellington — Restaurant in Loxahatchee Groves

I usually only leave positive reviews (over 90% of my posts are 4–5 stars) because I believe in giving places multiple chances and not judging based on one bad experience. I decided to try Carmela Coffee Bar again after 6 plus months. But after visiting this location five separate times, I can confidently say the service has consistently disappointed.

Today was the final straw. I arrived just after 3 p.m. The cashier (my receipt says Kiara R) and the barista were deep in conversation with a customer, and neither of them even acknowledged me standing there. After minutes of waiting awkwardly, the customer was the one who finally acknowledged me, saying they were “just chatting.”

When I finally placed my order (goat cheese flatbread to go and an iced vanilla latte, medium), Kiara processed it without mentioning or applying any of the rewards that showed up when I entered my phone number. She even asked if it was to go after I had already said it clearly.

What’s frustrating isn’t just today, it’s the pattern. Every visit has involved poor attention, lack of communication, and no sense of hospitality. I waited 7–8 minutes for my food without any updates or direction. No “have a seat,” no “your order will be ready shortly”, very transactional, disengaged service.

I truly wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but after five tries, I can’t keep excusing poor service. I've included images of my IG chat...

This was my first visit to Carmela. I tried their iced matcha latte with lavender. I didn’t want sugar or sugar substitutes so the lavender was recommended. It tasted good but was missing a tad bit sweetener to be perfect. The male barista came to the table I was seated at to see if I needed anything. I mentioned that it’s missing something and he offered me some more lavender for free. It came in this fancy little stainless steel pot. My iced matcha latter was EVERYTHING after that addition.

I loved the ambience and cozy set up. It’s not too large of a place nor too small. There various seating options based on your preference - tables and chairs to work on your laptop or your eat, or coaches for a more relaxed feel. I loved the customer service - the barista (male) was super friendly asking if it was my first time visiting Carmela and giving me a warm and genuine welcome.

Great spot for small meet-ups with friends or business partners. This is now my new go-to spot for business meetings. I’ll keep you guys posted on everything I try on the menu.
