Another addition to Wellington’s eat scene and it is a good one. Location is next door to Oli’s with whom they shouldn’t have any competition as the concepts are different; who is likely going to be affected by Sicilian Oven is Anthony’s on SR7: both have the wood fired pizza, both the wood fired wings, but Sicilian Oven has a more comprehensive menu. I am sure Anthony’s will retain the faithful followers but I am sure they will lose some to Sicilian Oven.
The food here is pretty good; now, no, you are not going to eat like in Sicily, this is more “Sicilian-inspired” than the real thing, but they seem to take good care of their food.
The pizza at SO is in my opinion the best in Wellington; not that there is a lot of competition but they do a good job with the ingredients, especially the tomato sauce seems superior and the mozzarella of better quality than others.
This place is often full, so they are having a good success from the beginning and I believe they are offering Wellington a good alternative and often a better one to a certain type of food that people like.
Happy hours are also a good thing, especially the pizza offering is well priced. Also here, like in the other pizzeria I mentioned above, you can get the large meatballs; while similar in texture, SO wins also this one and again, it’s because of the tomato sauce.
I am going to try some of the pasta dishes, see how they come out, but so far SO turns out to be a valid addition to this area and if you come for pizza, like many do, I don’t think you can get better in this area.
A couple of things that they might want to look into it: I understand that prosciutto can be more expensive than the classic pepperoni topping, but either you put it on the pizza or don’t offer it. We had to use a microscope to find it on our pizza.
Waiting staff at the bar is very relaxed; relaxed is good, but too much of it and you are borderline inattentive.
There is no beer on draft; I understand why due to the configuration of the bar and it’s no big deal. However somebody should tell the waiting staff that if you serve Italian or European beer you always bring a glass.
The bar is open to the outside so you can sit there as well; however, especially in these summer days, the place can get a bit hot because of this.
Overall, good spot and will go back to try some...
Read moreUPDATE: I am updating my previous google review (see below) based on the response from management to that review. The response was awesome and timely, immediately responding to my online review while at the same time reaching out in an e-mail from the general manager. Both responses were empathetic and apologetic, taking ownership of the past problems. Most importantly I believe the responses were sincere and very gracious. That said we did go back for a 4th visit (we truly love the food) before replying to the gm’s email. This 4th visit could be filed in the “I can’t believe that just happened” folder. On this our 4th visit we only got only 1 of 2 meals ordered. When the manager came over, I introduced myself and we both had a good chuckle. Again, he was empathetic, apologetic and very gracious. In summary, I highly recommend The Sicilian Oven for the excellent food and wonderful management team.
PREVIOUS REVIEW: We have been back to this restaurant 3 times now because we like the food, but I am writing because there seems to be a common theme in the negative reviews I’ve been reading; THE PEOPLE. On our first visit our server was nowhere to be found after taking our order. I had ordered soup and when our meal was delivered by someone else, I asked about my soup and was told it was coming. And it did, after the check came. I complained about being charged for the soup. I thought it was a joke and I was being punked, but the sever, who we only saw once before, looked at me as if to say, ‘what’s wrong, you got your soup’. Our second visit went pretty much the same. Saw our server once. She took our order including a bottle of wine. Once again, the meal was delivered by someone else who I asked about our wine. Once again, a third gentleman (probably the mgr.) brought our wine while we were paying the bill. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING. On our third visit (third times the charm), we got NANCY C as our server. She took ownership of our dining experience. Everything was delivered in the correct order and the dinner was great. THANK YOU, NANCY C., they need more...
Read moreTruly the best Italian restaurant in the area, by far!
This shiny new gem of a restaurant is where the old Pei Wei used to be. Completely remodeled interior with a wide open Floorplan and beautiful bar. The place is modern yet still has a nice rustic vibe.
The food is absolutely phenomenal. I will itemize everything to keep it easy:
Pizza - plain cheese, amazing flavor and very crispy. We had it as an appetizer.
Salad - very good, lots of toppings and delicious dressing.
Bruchetta - 4 pieces per order and really very good..just make sure to order with crispy bread.
Escarole and beans soup was out of this world. Best soup I've ever had.
Meatballs are by FAR the best I've ever had. Silky, velvety, goodness. My mind was blown by these.
Pasta was all served fresh and cooked properly (al dente) and the sauces (tomato, vodka, etc.) were all amazing.
The fogettabouit sandwich was incredible. If you like eggplant and prosciutto, you gotta try it. Truly magical.
Chicken parm was HUGE and extremely good. Like really really really good. Like so good thay we ate way too much of it and barely had room to eat some dessert.
Tiramisu for dessert was the best I've had in at least 10 years.
The drink menu is also very good. Watermelon martinis are exceptional and so are the margaritas.
The price is reasonable for the area with entrees around $20 and sandwiches around $13. The drinks were $9 and worth every penny.
The service was great and all the staff were very friendly. The ambiance is inviting and pleasant. Everything is very clean and well spaced out.
This is absolutely the best Italian you're going to get in the area. Do yourselves a favor and try it, I'm absolutely sure...
