This is for the ice bar, it was mistakenly put here, I can't remove it
How's the saying go? Cut off your nose to spite your face?
I just experience the worst service from an establishment. I always try to support black business, but things like this make it hard. We originally were going to go to Crab Pot in the same parking lot, but they were closed, so we ended up at harold's.
I had been here previously and the vibe seemed cool. An hour before the game we sat down. We proceeded to order food. Then we ordered drinks. The waitresses were good when we ordered food, constantly checking on us, but when we ordered drinks, they were no where to be found. Fast forward to the end of the 2nd quarter, we're getting ready to leave so we ask for our checks because the service was getting slow and 1 last drink. She brings the drink and the checks. We pay and are watching the final minutes of the 2nd quarter.
A woman walks up to us, whom we haven't been dealing with and tells us we need to leave because they need a table for a reservation. I politely tell her we're not done drinking and we're trying to watch the final minutes of the 2nd quarter, there are 4 minutes left. She said fine, she would give us 7 minutes and left. Apparently there was some sort of pow wow going on with some rude woman who had never served us, maybe the owner based on her privileged attitude. So then we're approached by the gentleman who asks us if they can have the table because they need to turn it over. At this point I explain that none of the harold's I've been to accept reservations and we're trying to finish drinking and want to finish watching these last couple of minutes. He's basically saying the same thing, they need the table, etc.. I found the fact that they wouldn't allow us a few minutes to finish before demanding the table was rude and unprofessional. We weren't drinking water, we weren't not spending money and I tipped 20% on top of my bill, so I wasn't being cheap. He offered us a drink, but a drink wasn't necessary we were leaving and if I wanted a drink, I can buy a drink, that wasn't the point. The point was the service and being pushed out of our table. I'm not one to make a scene, so we left.
First, the party who came up to us should have asked how much longer that we planned on staying before demanding our table. Because the 5 minutes wasn't going to kill anyone. Second, please don't tell me you accept reservations when all your websites say otherwise and when called no one answered a phone to make a reservation. Third, if there time limit on the tables, you should post it, but I've been enough times to know there isn't. The only reason we were asked to leave is because we cashed out our checks, only due to the service being slow. Had we kept it open, you wouldn't have needed the table and wouldn't have been able to have it as you would have thought we were ordering more. I don't like the attitude the owner or whoever she was had in front of everyone, making a huge scene and very unprofessional, it was quite embarrassing.
But this is where you cut off your nose to spite your face because we have several events for my law firm coming up and now harold's will not be a place that we choose to spend our money. So because you all were so thirsty for that $50-75 that was going to be spent tonight, you're now missing out on thousands. I would have understood if we didn't order anything and we were asking to stay an unreasonable amount of time, but we didn't.
This business gave a lesson in how not to service your customers. I try and support my people, but this is what makes it hard, period. I'll spend more money elsewhere that provides better service and makes me feel appreciated as a customer...
Read moreThis will be a rather long review and I will illustrate a time line so bare with me. So, I heard a Harold's opened on Old Nat. I read the reviews and most were bad but I decided to go try it any way because I really wanted some Harold's. I go on old nat to the Harold's to try it out. They happen to have a 99 Cent wings special. I set at the bar, ate my wings. Atmosphere was great. Service and food was great. In fact, I was wondering why the reviews were so bad. So 3 weeks pass and I called Harold's to see what time the 99 Cent wing special started. The person on the phone said that they didn't have a 99 cent wing special. I told him that I was just there 3 weeks ago and he explained that there were 2 Harold's on Old nat. So I just went to the one that I had the 99 cents wings at. While eating my wings at the bar, I look out the window and I see another Harold's. This is unheard of in Chicago. 2 Harold's within 300 feet of each other. So like last time, I ate the wings; great food great service again. My daughter comes in town yesterday and she want's Harold's. So I decided to go to the one at address C3. I assumed that the one with the bar was closed so early (about 11 a.m. Saturday). We get there at 11:20 a.m. Lights was on but no one in the building and the door was locked. We drop off my son and call back. A man answers, I asked what time do they open (since google said 11 a.m.). He said 10 or 11 and that he left earlier to go handle some business. So trying to give this Harold's a chance, we went back. Get inside and they accept cash only. O.K. had to go to my atm to deposit a check so went and did that and came back with cash. When I returned with the cash, the guy said I could have ordered before we left so it could have been ready when we got back. Hey, no problem; we can wait. He rings it up and I noticed that the price was different (by a dollar or two) from the prices on the extremely large sign. But I was sure he may have had some sign in there that states prices subject to change. We get the chicken finally and it seemed like he had mixed hot sauce and mild sauce when I ordered mild sauce (as stated on the ticket). I started to send it back but I was too hungry and I didn't want to wait another 15 minutes. I learned two things: There is a Harold's Chicken Shack and a Harold's Chicken & Ice Bar in the same plaza. Only go to the Harold's Chicken and Ice Bar (emphasis on Ice Bar).
Advice to the Harold's Chicken Shack in C3. If you're going to accept CASH only, charge prices different from you sign, make a customer wait 15 minutes, you better get the order right or the customer will take 15 minutes of his or her time to write...
Read morewhen I tell yall me and my group were treated so horribly at this location. like I was flabbergasted. We order our food, only to be told that they didn't have anymore meat to make the sandwhich my bf wanted. but the person in front of us who was our friend literally just ordered the same meal.. so that was confusing but Maybe they only had enough for one more so we moved on and ordered something else. the food took absolutely FOREVER and we were the only people in there at the time we ordered. when we did finally recieve our food we asked for our condiments (my bf needed tartar sauce, i need ketchup and hot sauce packets and i already had told her at time of order to place mild sauce with meal so I assumed it was in my meal container) and we left to go to car and wait for friends food. when i opened my meal i noticed she didn't put any mild sauce on the side as I had requested. my boyfriend goes back in for me and the girl at the front tell him NO! says she already gave us our sauces and literally stood there and refused to give him the mild sauce that she neglectfully did not add. "i just gave yall yalls sauce, u not gonna trick me" so extra, so unnecessary, such a nasty attitude. and like no girl u gave us tartar sauce not mild. so he comes back to the car and i'm like huhhh she told you no? i wanted to get lit but i wasn't gonna start no scene over no mild sauce. meanwhile back at the ranch, our friends in our group were STILL WAITING ON THEIR FOOD. still foodless, confused while we all had food and he still didn't and he ordered before us. she's ignoring him to cater to the line which now long as hell, he's waiting patiently for her attention, she's rolling her eyes at him, and being so incredibly extra that we left. he paid for food he never recieved cause at that point she probably would have spit in it anyway. at the end of the day, they need to invest in people with better customer service skills cause she was not it. i left disappointed after spending over an hour waiting and at the end of the day the food was average and not worth the negative experience. Never going back to...
