This is the classic small home-style South American restaurant, and we loved it! We went for lunch around noon, and there was a line. We did not eat in, because it was very crowded. For take out, we tried the Medium and the Large sized 'meals' as listed on the board. This is a long cafeteria line type of place, where you point or ask for what you want, and the server puts it in your plate.
At the time, a Medium lunch was $4.95, the Large was $7.95. The Medium is one large carry out rectangular box, including a rice (white or yellow), beans if you want them, 1 meat dish, 1 side. What a GREAT deal! That was definitely enough food for 2. The Large Lunch was $7.95, and when she filled a big flat box with rice, I thought maybe she misunderstood (the counter lady did not speak much english) and thought I was ordering ala carte. Then when I asked for meat, she gave me a big side of meat, then a separate side of vegetable (got the potato). When I paid, it was indeed $7.95, and that's how they serve it.
The food itself, some was outstanding (the pulled pork was GREAT!!). They have some unusual sides, like a chicken gizzard and plantain mix, as well as an egg/potato salad (what I got when I asked for papas rellenos... expecting cuban fried potato balls... nope, here, it's apparently egg/potato salad with diced tomatoes here). The other meat we got was what looked like stir fried beef, which was too dry and too salty, but still edible.
This is not a 5 star Spanish restaurant, but for the price? It's awesome, and of course, how amazing it is depends on what you pick. Some of the food is great, some not as great. But all of it is so reasonably priced, it's well worth the trip.
There was a nice big variety of dishes, and even if you don't speak Spanish, they understand 'Medium' and 'Large' (you can point up at the board), and point at the individual items you want. If you like a bit of adventure in eating, I would HIGHLY recommend you try this. It's a great introduction to South American food, that isn't the typical Cuban or Mexican restaurant. We'd definitely...
Read moreIf you're not a friend of theirs be ready to wait to get anything! Walked in and was greeted and waited in line just like everyone else then they would ask who's next and take care of the next person then all of a sudden someone walks in and gets taken care of by someone they know without waiting in line and again someone walks in and they call for someone in the back and they come out and serve them right away which others are still waiting to be served. All in all we waited over 15mins till someone decided to help after walking back and forth doing nothing. As for the food we'll this was our first and surely our last! When you run a business and customer's walk in take care of them because they are the ones that will keep you in business not the friends, the customer's you failed to assist are the ones who are going to leave you a negative feedback for poor...
Read moreThe food was great and right after as I walked in I was assisted by this nice lady dressed in black. Unfortunately after I finished I got up to order food to go and I stand right in front of food for over 5 minutes. Lady who served me before had a customer but there was 2 other people working too. One was packing food and the other one decided to start stirring food and cleaning area while I was waiting for service. Only 2 customers sitting eating and myself with my son sitting plus the customer paying. Not busy at all. That was very rude from those other servers. After waiting same lady who served me earlier came and helped me. As I walked out a male client came in and the male server who was packing food came right away to assist customer. I guess they picked who they want to serve. So rude. This was my first time eating here. It definetely will be...
