When I used to work on Boulder highway, used to go this place all the time. I loved getting just the simple teriyaki beef on white rice. I've been thinking about it for a while at work and so drove out of my way to go over and get this from them one day recently. The girl behind the counteracted as if she was better than anyone but I asked her about the beef and rice. She pointed out one thing on the menu and that was not what I was talking about. I ended up finding what I was asking about. I pointed it out to her and she continued to keep pushing the items she was pointing it on the menu. I said no this is what I want and kept pointing at what I wanted. She goes have you ever had whatever the thing was as if she was still trying to push it. I said no I haven't but I want this. I should have walked out then!! She convinced me to get the large one rather than the small one which of course was more money. I bought into what she was saying thinking I could have a little extra later on. When I got it home and open it up, what a disappointment. The amount I got was the same amount I used to get at the lower price. I know prices have gone up but this was ridiculous. The meat had little fat grizzles in it and there was not much teriyaki sauce at all. The rice was okay but it would have been better had it had more sauce! It's my fault as I should have maybe opened up the box before I left but I trusted them because I'd been there before and never had a problem before this time. I did not appreciate the girls attitude. I did not appreciate her acting like I didn't know what I wanted or pushing what she wanted me to get rather than just getting me what I wanted. Again she acted like she was better than anyone. As if she was a hostess at an upper class restaurant... What's this place is far from. I could have gone down the street and around the corner to Genghis grill and gotten much more food for the same price and it would have lasted me three meals. And it would have gotten it the way I wanted it. Based on the girls actions and the horrible food I will never ever go back...
Read moreThe food is good for most of the items I have previously tried but I am very disappointed in the front counter lady that was working on 7/22/2022 @ around 6pm. I was a frequent customer and was treated with rudeness and grouchiness. I came here weekly trying new items ever so often. My kind advice would be to please train this employee to repeat the items that have been ordered and the size to verify accuracy and always give out the receipt to the customer for verification. I asked for a mini loco moco and wanted to confirm but she did not give me or offer me a receipt until I went back up to the counter to ask for it and when I corrected that it should have been a mini loco moco since it was incorrectly rung up as a regular sized loco moco she was quickly rude and said straight to me you did not say that when I did and continued to proceed with clicking her register buttons with attitude and looking at me with a grouchy face. I am not a rude person so I looked at her and shook my head politely but this sign of disrespect and lack of appreciation from a frequent customer left me feeling not valued. I could have decided to go to one of my other favorite Hawaiian plate lunch restaurants where they treat me with respect and as a valued customer. I would highly suggest going to the blue diamond location or trying one of my other favorite Hawaiian plate lunch restaurants such as Grindz 2 Da Max. I also noticed there were numerous similar reviews if your scroll down stating that the lady at the counter was rude to...
Read moreI was really looking forward to a casual Hawaiian BBQ fix at Ohana—and sadly, it missed the mark on almost every level. From the moment I walked in, the place felt run-down; peeling paint, flickering lights, and a nearly deserted dining area gave off a sketchy vibe that left me uneasy about staying after dark.
Despite arriving when the shop was empty, I ended up waiting nearly 35 minutes for my food. Two parties who showed up after me received their orders first, which only amplified my frustration. Service itself was polite but oddly disorganized, and the long wait felt even more unjustified given how empty the restaurant was.
When my dishes finally arrived, the fish platter was so overcooked it had turned rubbery and dry—each bite was a chore to chew. The ribs fared no better: charred beyond tenderness, they snapped oddly under my fork and drained any juice or flavor I’d hoped for. Neither dish felt worth even a fraction of the price.
Speaking of prices, I was shocked at how high they were compared to other Hawaiian spots in the area. You can get a far better, more authentic plate for less at L&L Hawaiian Barbecue down the street. Their portions are generous, the flavors are spot on, and the atmosphere—while still casual—is clean and inviting.
If you’re craving Hawaiian BBQ, I’d strongly recommend skipping Ohana and heading to L&L or another local favorite. You’ll save money, enjoy real island flavors, and avoid the uncomfortable surroundings and endless wait. I do not recommend...
