I feel compelled to share the deeply troubling incident that occurred during my recent visit to Spinnaker Bar. My friends and I were denied service based solely on the fact that two members of our group were of Asian descent. On Monday, July 5th, at 12:30 pm, we arrived at Spinnakers for a lunch date with friends. Unbeknownst to us, there is one woman manning the entire place. Bar, restaurant, casino and several customers as this is summer, and the day after a big holiday. It took quite some time to just get a soda. Then, we were finally able to order lunch. During this time, several other people had arrived, apparently hungry as well. People weren’t getting drinks ordered because the bartender was trying to cook too. We got our lunch ordered at 1:00 pm. Meanwhile, enter another bartender, perhaps even the owner, who knows? He announces that “he’s hungover as the 4th was his birthday.” This guy commences to treat customers that had been waiting for a drink for quite awhile very rudely. A customer had commented that she’d been waiting for her order. He told her if she didn’t like it, she could leave. Then the woman bartender becomes short with people, along side him. The customer did leave, btw, as many others did. Maybe they were all from outta state and will never darken the door to Spinnakers again. Then came the announcement that there would be no more food cooked. Very rudely, as if it’s our fault they’re shorthanded, and he’s hungover from over indulging the day before. Who would open a bar in a place such as lakeside, where the tourist out numbers the locals about 10-1 on a holiday with 1 person to work the bar? We finally got our order 1.5 hours later after 2 more people showed up. We’ll never make this mistake again. Thank you for your rude customer service.
