Atlanta | Campus Eateries Around Emory (Part 1)

Student cafe with snacks and problematic parking. I stop by here every week or so. I'd probably be here more often if there were parking available. This is a bustling little coffee shop with a pretty big dining area inside and a covered patio by the train tracks. For a student coffee shop, the coffee is decent and there's a lot of choice on snacks. There are also some small plates and sandwiches. I drink straight espresso, and it's good here with a nice crema. I stop by here because they have rice krispie bars that are not as sweet as the Starbucks version. They often have a few other gluten free treats. They even have a gluten free muffin and coconut macaroons. If you are an Emory student, this is more organic and charming than the Starbucks on the edge of campus. If you are not a student, it is very hard to find parking here and unless, like me, this happens to be on your path, this is not worth going out of your way.

Beyond inconsistent. Wildly expensive for relatively basic food($7 for a mango smoothie? Are you serious?) The coffee is pretty good, but 9 times out of 10 your food will not taste like the last time you had it. It’s a shame that a place with so much potential is such a wild card. My least favorite trip involved ordering a black bean burrito that arrived to me as a sloppily wrapped, wet on the exterior, hard as a rock on the interior, overcooked block of beans. It’s no exaggeration to call it burnt and inedible. I can only hope that kaldi’s returns to the quality it had prior to the pandemic.

I’ve been an Emory employee for awhile and when I’m on campus, I sometimes stop by. I like their unique coffee specials (like cardamom or lavender). It’s on par to Starbucks pricing, but good option if you’re already on campus. They have several food options from sandwiches to salads. Breakfast and lunch options. Aldo have a variety of sweet treats. They seem To do pretty good business as it’s often bustling any time I pop by. The employees have always been very friendly. The vibe is nice!

Greek salad is amazing and fresh, especially on a hot, summer day. Loved my iced dirty Chai latter--was happy it wasn't sweet. Also, really liked the new iced lavender matcha latte. The staff is pleasant and nice, and I enjoyed the conversation I had with the batista. The only downside is the noise during lunch hours and the limited parking spots. By the way, they really patrol the area and if you magically patrol the spot, it's only an hour parking. Believe me...I got a ticket
