So before you think I'm crazy for ordering meatloaf at an obviously Italian restaurant, it was the special of the day and the cashier said "it's amazing and made only once a month." Man, she wasn't kidding! It's got to take a whole month to make a dish so delicious and filled with homemade goodness! ❤️ First off, let's talk about the garlic bread... who woulda thought something so simple could be so delicious, but it was: Toasty buttery goodness!! The obviously hand-mashed potatoes w/ just the right amount of potato skins mixed in this fluffy, creamy mixture was the absolutely perfect side for the main attraction, THE MEATLOAF! Great meaty texture with crisp edges off the grill and an amazing velvety brown sauce like I've never had before. I ordered it on the side as I usually find them not to be so delightful, yet I found myself pouring it over the meatloaf right away and dipping everything thing I could into it! Even those unassuming baby carrots in an herbed butter sauce were able to shine through on their own in this amazing cast of characters! Need to start marking dates down on my calendar as the last time I was here I had the Chicken Fried steak, which was also monthly. Hopefully, eventually, I'll get to some of the other dishes on their menu! Last thing, if you've never been here, every inch of this place is filled with movie star memorabilia from throughout the past decades. It's a quiet, and dim, and extremely relaxing atmosphere to escape from your daily...
Read morePapa Dante’s was so good! It was my first time dining and the food and staff were perfect! The experience began with greetings at the door from behind the countertop. The woman was extremely patient as I reviewed the menu and was helpful with an item that I saw on the pictures but it was not listed, so make sure to ask if needed. I purchased two drinks, an appetizer, a salad, a ten inch pizza, as well as the lasagna/spaghetti combo, all for right at $50! (I still have half of it leftover for another meal.) The portions were perfect for two to share and you definitely get bang for your buck. The food is decently authentic and the lasagna was very rich with ricotta. The exclamation point is the vast decor of signed memorabilia from music to movies, and any other sports and entertainment collectibles you can imagine, covering the walls from head to toe! This review is only for the dine in restaurant but I’d love to experience the event center based on the pictures. My only regret would be that I didn’t have a glass of wine to raise in praise for Papa Dante’s granddaughters who have continued this legacy. I hope the family continues to stick it out in our little town of Converse for many...
Read moreI used to come here once a week over the past 4 years, due to the the convenience when I pass through on my way to work, but never again. Over priced pizza with very little cheese and overpriced pasta with very little sauce, I waited 45 minutes when there was only 5 people in the restaurant for the lady in the green shirt (who was on her cell phone the whole time) to tell me she forgot I was here and that I had placed my order togo, which doesn't make sense because she never once made an attempt to find me in the restaurant to tell me my order was ready, further doesn't make any sense because she never attempted to find me to ask if I needed a refill.
I was pretty quiet so maybe it was a mistake.
Which is why I was shocked when I asked her her name she refused to tell me but said she was the manager. When I said I'd like to lodge a concern with the owner of the establishment, she said "I am the owner." To which I just quietly left.
My feelings are hurt, I'm never coming back.
All this place has going for it is the wall posters as a caricature of...
