I don't know if there's any other restaurant I've been to that was as packed as this place was. We were a group of six all brown-skinned and we stood out and we were looked at. That's not necessarily the restaurants fault, but I would say it's something to be aware of. Hands down our server Miss Betty was the best server. She was running around to a lot of tables but she checked on us frequently and she offered suggestions. This is not a place I would recommend someone who doesn't eat meat to go to, but Miss Betty help me find something that wasn't on the menu but that I could order that worked for me. There are only two non-meat options on their menu. And then there's the tuna melt which you can order but is not on the menu. The tuna Pita, which didn't sound good to me, and the patty melt. I got the sauce and onions from the patty melt added to my tuna melt. You guys, it was really good. You should know in no way healthy though! The sauce tasted like deviled egg, and it was one of the best tuna melts I've ever had. My table ordered cheese dip and shared it around. I thought it was weird that a non-Hispanic restaurant was serving cheese dip, but it comes out with a little bag of Tostitos rounds and little plates to share. And it was okay. Everybody else at the table loved it. Miss Betty did try to get us on a dessert but we were on a time crunch... I would add here that if you are on a time crunch Stoby's is not...
Read moreI got an order to go today and was more than let down. I was so very excited to get the delicious Stobys food I remembered from my college days and it was disappointing to say the least. I ordered my favorite Tuna Pita which was soggy and flavorless. I ordered my boyfriend a Stoby sandwich and it was the most pitiful thing ever. I've seen vending machine sandwiches that looked more palatable. Hardly any meat at all or anything else for that matter. In fact, when it was first unwrapped from the foil it appeared like there was only 2 pieces of bread there. Each sandwich was supposed to come with a bag of chips and pickle spear. I got one bag and no pickles at all. A small 4 oz. Cheese dip and a handful of tortilla chips set me back $6.00 and it was bland and not at all the mouth watering cheese dip of yesteryear. I had asked for a side of sliced jalapenos. Didn't get them. Asked for lemons in my tea. Nope, didn't get those either. The peanut butter pie was good and the young man that helped me carry out my food to the car was a dandy but that's about all I can say good. Such a shame. I had bragged about this place and now just feel embarrassed for doing it and wish I hadn't spent...
Read moreI had to keep repeating myself about cheese dip that order to go. Update 04/03/21 I do not think I will go this the restaurant to eat anymore. It is not worth the hassle. I do not care for most of what they have I only like the eggs benedict. They struggle with staff like most places in a college town do. The year before last near Christmas I came is just to order Cheese Dip in a large container to give as gift to someone at Christmas a week later. I told person at the front counter this. She keep trying talk me out of getting the large container and I had to keep getting asked if I wanted it hot. The last Time I waited 30+ minutes so when I sat down to be told they where out of mostly everything. Today I came it it was crowded and the staff were disregarding social distancing. My last experience the waitress was arguing about what time it was it was clearly 8:30 and she was arguing it was 11:00. On top of that the eggs benedict were served cold. I just don't come here anymore. when they were arguing about my cheese dip order they weren't busy they were just trying to talk to me out of ordering something big. The wait staff here is just often...
