After getting a recommendation from a complete stranger across from my table at another local restaurant, I had to try this place out, and man, I was floored. Having taken a foodie road trip to eat street food all over Texas in the past, finding a place this good, this cheap, and this friendly was like stepping out of Conway and into a taqueria in San Antonio. Mexican music fills the restaurant, Garlands the colors of the Mexican flag stretch from corner to corner around the ceiling, and the smell of freshly grilled meats hits you as soon as you open the door.
The laminated, double-sided menu is helpfully bilingual, And unlike most shotgun taquerias, they don't start and stop at tacos. Pupusas, Sopes, Tortas, even Menudo on Sundays, along with daily specials are available. When you come in and have a sit-down meal, they bring you five different salsas and pickled onions with thick, substantial tortilla chips. Agua Frescas, as well as Jarritos, Mundet, Topo, all the usual suspects for drinks are available, as well as beer and cocktails. They make you feel at home even if you're a gringo, and there's a healthy percentage of Hispanic diners eating there, letting you know it's not Taco Bell. And service is FAST. I couldn't have waited five minutes between ordering and my tacos de lengua being brought out to my table by one of the three very pretty servers. The way they and the two cooks joke and play behind the counter makes me think the staff is a family affair, another plus in my book.
A little tricky to get to if you don't know your way around town(They're unfortunately on a one-way street), it's worth the extra little effort to get into this place. Unequivocally the BEST Latin American food in Conway. They also have a location in Socastee, which gives me hope that they'll be a restaurant that will stick around for quite a while; and if the crowded lunchtime parking lot was any indication, they're...

When I walked and I noticed it was clean and that there was some effort made to establish an authentic-to-Mexico decor. One of the walls however was piled up with overflow storage. That was not pretty. The rest of the restaurant was fine. We were warmly greeted and told to choose a table.
The menu was a little bit surprising in that it is billed as a taqueria (tacos) but listed only three tacos on the menu. I think you can put any kind of meat from their extensive list of meats on your taco, including lengua (tongue) and chorizo (very spicy sausage); kind of a build-your-own taco situation. There were a whole host of other Mexican foods to choose from as well, such as empanadas, tostadas, etc...
There was also a pretty decent $10 buffet which included several different kinds of stewed proteins as well as the expected rice, beans, lettuce tomatoes etc.
I tried the chorizo taco and the steak empanada. The taco was delicious. The chorizo was very spicy and rich but garnishes such as lettuce radishes cucumber and sauce gave it a freshness and a brightness, which really balanced it out. The empanada was fresh out of the fryer, beautifully garnished with fresh ingredients and tasted authentic to me.
You can order takeout but they don't have a website so you have to call their main number.
Overall, the service was good, the atmosphere was okay and the food made it worth the trip. I will be...
Read morefoods pretty okay most of the time, the problem i have is the service and availability of vegetarian options. my boyfriend is vegetarian and has been for years, once you stop eating meat for so long your body tends to have a bad reaction to eating meat. in my boyfriends case, it makes him throw up. the first time we ate there, he ordered a vegetarian quesadilla with beans and rice on the side. well, the beans had giant chunks of meat in them, which made him extremely sick. last night we ate there again, hoping if he didnt order beans, everything would be okay. well, his quesadilla had meat in it. at this point, it feels intentional.
onto the service, there is a younger guy that works there, maybe early 20s? every time he waits on me and my family, he is very snippy with us, and usually rolls his eyes and stank eyes us. whats even worse is i know spanish, im not fluent, but i know enough to get me by, and ive heard staff complaining about me and my family before.
the foods okay, but if youre vegetarian, i...
