We were a party of 9 with 4 separate checks. Jacob was the manager on duty. Upon entering the front entrance we noticed the trash was overflowing from the receptacle. Used/ dirty Trays were stacked high. Floor was gummy/ sticky, our shoes were sticking to it as we walked to the order counter. We ordered our food. We waited close to 15 minutes to get our food, which had to be returned to the counter because it was wrong. While standing at the counter we noticed roaches crawling the wall and chair railing. Disgusting and unacceptable. We got our food and sat down to eat near the rear- side entrance and that trash area was the same disarray as the front. The kitchen door was opened while an employee entered and the garbage and trash that was stacked up where the employee had to step across it to enter. I feel this is unlike what this area should be like. ( not only gross, but a slip/fall hazard for staff) The drink station was dirty and sticky. The drink machine was full of ice you could barely fit your cup in to fill it. Drink syrup was running down the front of the machine and puddled on the floor. An employee was alerted by another customer and the employee simply walked over and pulled the rug over the puddle instead of using a mop. Very unacceptable. The remaining people in our party got their food. One person’s kickin chicken sandwich had a hair inside. They refused to eat anymore. Another person had the Cobb salad that had not properly cooked chicken in it. When we took it to the counter it was given back without any chicken. I understand staff shortages cause a plethora of setbacks and hardships, however cleanliness and proper food preparation should never be less than top priority. We are locals who dine out 3-4 times a week, we understand the shortages everyone is facing and the stream of problems these shortages cause, but this visit was horrible. I don’t believe in bashing a business in reviews, but after reading the reviews on Google the past few months I’m a little taken back that these issues have not been accessed and corrected. I hope not just the restaurant management, but also district and regional management look into this problematic site, and correct the problems. Read moreA typical day at zaxby’s would be busy, packed, and stressful. The customers always have to wait forever for their food and most of the time it’s something wrong with it. People leave you upfront on the headset and front counter alone. The upper management is very poor, my manager got suspended because we got out at 1am, mind you he’s 18 the only “manager” there and we had to do so much cleaning. He was cleaning behind the coke machine that never been cleaned before and cut his arm up still had to count money and so many other things by himself, everyone got written up and the reasoning was invalid. Not very long after that I quit because I felt like $10 an hour wasn’t really enough for me to destroy my mental health, when I quit the upper management over all the Horry county zaxbys said “that crybaby can suck it up”. Conway zaxby's is the only one in Horry county that gets paid $10 an hour, doesn’t get over time nor gets paid for overtime. And also they are extremely infested with roaches, the drink machine, the condiment boxes, the bags, the back of the house( where the food is), and so many more places. First of all we love Zaxbys menu and their food. The service here is the issue. I waited 42 minutes for my order. This is the third time we've waited over 15 minutes for a togo order.
While I waited, I counted 6 angry customers and watched a staff of untrained youth try to operate a restaurant. Four staff members took breaks leaving over 6 open orders, one young man alone in the kitchen and two at the counter. I literally helped these kids sort orders and get them to waiting cars.
Thanks to the one kitchen employee, I did finally get my food, and it was hot. Thanks young man.
Zaxbys managment, This store needs help ASAP.
I understand the issue you face. We have a declining work ethic across two generations. Unfortunately we have to train differently, schedule differently, and reward differently. Its Sad and frustrating but it is what it is and your industry dwpwnda on those generations for the bulk of its staff. We will not change an entire generations attitude so we have to change our strategies.
