I had originally written the below review, however now I see it was for the Sakura on US1. Not sure if they are owned by the same people, but to be fair the below review is specifically for the Sakura in West Miami on 57th Ave. Unfortunately, google won't let me delete the review. I've never actually dined at the Sakura on US1. Hopefully the experience is much better than the one on 57th ave. Regardless, if the owners are the same, I hope you'll take into consideration what I have said about your restaurant on 57th Ave. Thanks
Took someone on a date here and unfortunately it won't be happening again. As a first date dining experience, it was honestly not the best. I've had many people recommend this restaurant in the past as one of the best sushi restaurants in Miami, however after this experience I am surprised at how many stars this place has. The fried rice was bland and cold and it wasn't even sushi rice. The tamiami roll we ordered, seemed good except the plaintains on the top were very cold. The staff did not have any uniform on, which to me was kind of surprising, as in many sushi places at least the chefs are wearing uniforms. And to top it off my date had a live ant crawling out of the fried rice. I would upload the actual video of it but unfortunately google only allows me to upload photos. The waitress was very apologetic to us, which I'm grateful for, however I strongly recommend this place gets...
Read moreWe came in here due to the good reviews, after seeing matsuri was closed for lunch on Saturday.
It was honestly one of the worst sushi experiences of my life. A poor imitation of a local family owned sushi restaurant with a totally Americanized menu. It wasn't looking good, but google reviews had not let me down before.
We ordered mamacita salad, with shrimp and ginger. It was edible but not pleasant. The chef had used a lot of mayonnaise. If only I had known what was coming I would have left immediately.
Alaskan king crab roll was more mayonnaise than anything else. It literally dripped off in huge globs as I picked it up with the chopsticks. Horrific. I wouldn't have served it to my dog. Florida roll - wilted greens and dripping with sauce. No taste apart from the sweet chili sauce they had dumped over the top. Chicken udon - mushy vegetables and noodles. What a depressing sight. It was as It has been boiling for 3 days. No flavor in the soup at all. No Japanese chili powder was provided. You would think that they would do anything they could to perk up the flavor. It tasted like they had made the batch the whole week on the Monday, vegetables and noodles and all, and served it to us on the Saturday.
Chicken teriyaki and local sashimi was passable. Just average.
The food has No elegance. No creativity, just buckets of sauce and mayonnaise. Restaurants normally do this to hide the quality of the...
Read moreMy client and I decided to grab a quick bite to eat for (WELL WHAT I THOUGHT WOULD BE QUICK). I sat at the bar and it took close to 15 minutes and 3 different waiter to finally take my order.
I ordered 2 spicy tuna hand rolls with brown rice and avacodo and 2 spicy tuna apps.
The spicy tuna hand rolls were the smallest hand rolls I've literally ever seen in my life.
The bill came and the amount was $73.00 and i was still starving. I wondered why it was so high considering the spicy tuna HR were $7 on the menu. I found out after it's because this restaurant changes a million dollars for adding brown rice and avacado, which explains why my miniture had rolls were $20 dollars each. This also explains the weird smile my waitress had when she took my order. At no point was I informed of these additional charges.
If you go to this place please pack your own lunch because you'll most likely leave hungry, broke, and dissatisfied. Out of all other sushi options in the Coral Gables area I will certainly be going somewhere...
