Taipa Peruvian Restaurant is now open. From what I understand, this is the “soft” opening. I stopped by for dinner, and found the atmosphere very nice and cozy. I ordered as an appetizer , Yuca A La Huancaina. This is fried yucca with a light creamy dipping sauce. The sauce was very light, with a delicate flavor. But the start was the yucca, which was fried to perfection and a rich flavor, which yucca is not known. My main dish was Jalea Mixta, this is a mix of fried seafood, fish, mussels, shrimp, and calamari on a bed of lettuce. This included choice of sauces, such as the homemade tartar sauce, or a spicy lime cilantro sauce, or a very spicy tomato based sauce. I had the tartar and spicy lime sauces, which were delicacies. In addition, there were spears of fried yucca, artistically places on the dish. The seafood for the most part was very good, there were some issues. The calamari, which was cut very thin, were mostly over cooked, as well were the mussels. One of the mussels was so over cooked, it was crispy, not a good thing for a mussel. The shrimp were good, but for some reason, the size varied from tiny salad shrimp to a medium shrimp. Needless to say, they tiny shrimp did not fare well, being over cooked, so they were more of a crispy garnish, then part of the dish. Lastly, this dish included vingery onion garnish, that paired perfectly with the fried food, giving the taste buds a break from the oily seafood. To summarize, overall, the food was good, but they still need to work out some of the quarks that any new restaurant has. I will be returning, as I am looking forward to trying some of the other choices...
Read moreI’m not usually the type of person to write bad reviews (or any reviews at all), but I felt I had to share my experience because the service here was extremely disappointing. Peruvian restaurants called taipa “Bird Road and 57th Avenue.
The waiter was obnoxious, rushed, and acted as if serving us was a bother. There was no warm or welcoming vibe at all. To my surprise, I later found out that the waiter was actually the owner. For an owner to treat customers in such a rude way is unacceptable.
The food? Definitely not worth the hype. It was just average at best, nowhere near as amazing as some people claim. Yes, the place itself looks nice, but that’s about it. The music was blasting so loud it made it hard to even enjoy the meal.
Overall, the rude service, loud environment, and underwhelming food made this a one-time visit for me. I won’t be going back, and I don’t...

Taipa Peruvian Restaurant in Coral Gables is an absolute gem! I tried the fried rice with beef, and it was simply delicious—perfectly cooked, flavorful, and packed with savory goodness. The sauces served on the side were incredible, each adding a different dimension to the dish. Another must-try is their jalea with corvina, which was crispy, fresh, and full of flavor. For dessert, I had the bavarois, and it was the perfect sweet finish—light, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness.
Our waiter, Alejo, was outstanding! His knowledge of the menu and his recommendations made the experience even better. He was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Taipa is now my go-to spot for Peruvian cuisine, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an exceptional...
