12/14/2024 I acknowledge that this place now holds the title for the best representation of Spanish cuisine in Miami, offering carefully selected and prepared products that deliver an exceptional dining experience.
Food: The octopus dish was well-presented, though the portion was somewhat small. The steak tartare lacked flavor, but the creamy rice was spot-on in both taste and texture—a highlight of the meal.
Service: The professionalism of the staff is evident, reflecting their experience and dedication to excellence.
Ambience: A packed house with a waiting list speaks volumes about the combination of quality, service, and overall dining experience.
Conclusion: Congratulations to the entire team for creating a Miami establishment worthy of a remarkable culinary journey.
07/21/2024 Visited on the indicated date, and despite the restaurant being full and arriving without a reservation, the host managed to accommodate us, for which I am very grateful.
Food: We entrusted the menu to the house, only specifying that we wanted a paella as the main course. The rest of the starters were magnificent—well presented, with the right flavor and temperature, and of exceptional quality.
Service: Always attentive to the table, never leaving empty plates or glasses, and providing very professional service, knowing when to act to avoid interrupting a conversation or catching someone mid-bite.
Ambiance: The music was in perfect harmony with the volume of people, allowing for conversations in a pleasant environment without raising voices. There was fantastic coordination among the service staff, managing the flow of customers seamlessly.
Conclusion: I consider this place a reference point for enjoying a variety of dishes that make a meal or dinner an experience worth returning for.
06/27/2024 After some time since my last visit, I tried this restaurant again. Following the closure of Lekus, it remains one of the references for Spanish cuisine.
In my review, I reflect my feelings, and the passage of time sometimes does not help with improvement.
Food: I would highlight the salmon with various nuances, the confit artichoke, and the croquettes.
Service: There is a need for greater attention to the tables—empty plates and bottles are not removed, water glasses are left unfilled, cooking times for fish are not inquired about, among other aspects.
Ambiance: The music level and cleanliness are perceived as correct from the entrance, and the decor recreates a Parisian café.
When visiting an establishment of this type, one always expects the best.
08/18/2023 Miami Spice is a great opportunity to taste and enjoy the Calamillor's amazing way to cook. I had a great experience in a reasonable price menu with 3 different dishes with an essential flavor of Spaniard food. The artichoke with Spanish ham and the Fideua (paella using pasta instead of rise) brings to your mouth the best test of Spain. Service was perfect, and the wine most recommend double-check the price list. Congratulations, and this is one of my best...
Read moreAs of March 2023 CalaMillor has only been open a few weeks. The menu is still limited and provisional, but what they do offer is excellent. They service (mostly by friendly well-groomed attractive 20s--30s individuals) is excellent. The ambiance is unpretentious (in a good way) European, but fashionable and substantially upscale. CalaMillor is an appropriate venue to impress your guests (with your excellent tastes), even for an adult first date. In our experience, early lunch service, with the restaurant about 3/4 full, was brisk (dishes were served promptly). I'd suggest reservations even for lunch at peak times. Luncheon portions were modest; but for us, just the right size. Few customers will be asking for leftover containers, but are unlikely to leave hungry either. The prices are upscale. For example a "Cuban" sandwich with fries cost about $24. Despite the name "Cuban", it was a pulled pork sandwich on whole-grain sandwich bread, about the size of half an American sandwich --- yet generous, delicious, and comfortably filling for lunch. The accompanying excellent French fries (a very small portion by Cuban standards) --- remember that it is called a "Cuban sandwich" on the menu) were excellent. The grilled octopus (also about $24) was superb. It consisted of only about 10 or 12 1/4"-to-1/2" thick slices of tentacle in a heavy cream (maybe creamy cheese) sauce in a 5" bowl --- but it was well worth every penny. The bakery is superb. So far, it is European Spanish, not Cuban (as are most Hispanic bakeries in South Florida). The distinction is that Cuban pastries etc. are usually grossly over-sweetened by American and European standards. Pastry shops or departments in "Spanish" restaurants in Miami tend to deteriorate to Cuban tastes over time --- presumably reflecting the tastes of the majority of patrons. CalaMillor has a small quite upscale grocery section, with some fascinating offerings. Where else can you buy tins of cockles or barnacles? In comparison Delicias de España #2 (about a mile west on Bird Road) has a much more extensive, more affordable, grocery and gift selection, and significantly less expensive restaurant offerings (about half the price for a comparable meal). Compared to CalaMillor, Delicias de España #2 is a more "homey" strip-mall restaurant -- not the ideal place to impress a first date. By the way, if Delicias de España was recommended to you (by someone who knew the restaurant several years ago), the present CalaMillor was Delicias de España #1 until gutted by a fire and closed. CalaMillor (under different management) appears to be cashing-in on the reputation of Delicias de España #1 (which was wildly popular), but CalaMillor is a step more upscale (in quality and pricing). I'll continue patronizing Delicias de España #2 regularly for "comfort" meals and Spanish groceries. In short, CalaMillor is the best truly European Spanish restaurant that we know of in the Miami area, and we will be patronizing it regularly for more adventurous, more...

The selection of Spanish wines is impressive and pairs perfectly with the food.
