Yardhouse feels like your backyard thanks to the warm attention of Marcel (our Marcel Marceau) and his loyal buddy Sam… both will make sure to treat you as friends, setting the tone for what you expect from comfort American food.
We started off with some Poke Nachos, and unexpectedly they were a little bit spicy for us, but it is part of their asian flair. Not as big in portions as its counterpart Chicken Nachos, but a fair size if you are saving your space for what is coming next. The entrecote with truffle fries and sautéed veggies has its signature punch… a legit execution at a much fair price than other restaurants in Miami, where you can easily find the same dish for twice the price. The parmesan truffle fries, even though they were fresh, confused me in terms that I wasn’t sure if they were missing the truffle or the parmesan. Either way, they didn’t make my cut. On the contrary, the sweet potato fries beat my expectations. Sweet, salty, crispy, and crunchy, all those textures and flavors in each bite are still around.
Finally, the maine lobster noodles with, shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, spinach, and parmesan, were even spicier than the poke nachos, which is kind of a miss because the spice overlapped the rest of the flavors, but overall it was an interesting choice. To close with some sweet highlights, the desserts really leveled and calmed down those spicy spikes: the bread pudding topped with crème anglaise, took me to Spain as it tasted like the American version of a “torrija”, but even better executed. The swirling caramel syrup splurged on the pudding and scoops of cold cream to an indulgent interpretation of this classic Spanish dessert, even taking the spotlight over one of my favorites, the Oreo brookie because I'm a fool for crumbles, cookie dough fudge brownie, which was I expected but the bread pudding really played a higher league.
The ambiance is very family friend oriented, with a terrace that looks into Merrick Park gardens, that adds a stylish vibe and connects us back again to the backyard of our...
Read moreBeen coming here since they first opened their doors and I have yet to be disappointed. The service, food, drinks, and cleanliness never fails. It's a great place to go for a quick bite for lunch during the week or for a night of celebration. You can dress up or keep it casual. Either way, it's a cool and fun environment plus you can catch your favorite sports team on one of the many tv's.
On our most recent visit, we had the pleasure of being attended to by Michelle. She made great recommendations and was very attentive without being overbearing.
What we ordered and loved: Shiitake Garlic Noodles - with butter, garlic, shiitake mushrooms, and parmesan cheese $6.75 Fried Mac & Cheese - with tomato bisque and porcini cream sauce $11.95 Street Tacos a la Carte: Baja Fish, Asada, and Chicken; with spicy rice and pinto beans topped with cheese $4.35 each Gardein Orange Chicken - with baby corn, bok choy, orange glaze, and jasmine rice $16.95 Skirt Steak Arrachera - roasted pasilla, street corn, guajillo sauce, and spicy rice $19.75
What we ordered and did not care for: Wisconsin Fried Cheese Curds - with honey hot sauce, horseradish aïoli $10.95. It was ridiculously salty, too crunchy and the sauces were not so good. I would not recommend this appetizer to anyone.
They have a full bar, but if you're a beer lover like me, this place is for you! They have an extensive beer menu which include seasonal ones too. On this visit, I had Boom Sauce IPA by Lord Hobo Brewing Company. It's hazy, light gold in color, slightly bitter, citrusy, fruity, and simply refreshing. I highly recommend it for those into IPA's.
The servers are knowledgable and attentive. And when it comes to the beer, you can sample as many as you'd like. They are more than happy to bring beer samples until you find the perfect one.
I will be...
Read moreMy wife and I have received food from here a few times. We have ate inside once Covid restrictions were lifted. Sorry and disappointing experience there, as well. In short, I had to send my hamburger (as simple as it sounds to make) back twice (2x) and it upset me so much, I almost canceled the entire order. My wife ordered a chicken meal and somehow, they got it wrong and brought her out a hamburger. Unfortunately, it is now time to let Yard House know, as well as, reviewers know.... just how disappointing this establishment has become. The time before last, we ordered the Orange Chicken with Jasmine rice. I got severe food poisoning; whereas, my wife just received a mild headache....and no, Covid related it wasn't. Then, tonight, we took a chance and we ordered it again. My chicken had no taste whatsoever other than it being chewy as if I was chewing a dried up gummy bear. The rice seemed like it was of cardboard texture with a hint of some kind of seasoning it almost made me choke. My Wife's chicken had no sauce on it and the only way we can describe it is, hospital foods are the only bland food we knew of....until tonight. I am extremely disappointed in this Yard House and can only imagine the others are very similar. Then, to pay almost $40 for a meal for two that only McDonald's can beat for less, just in a word....disgusts me. I even know of a couple of people that worked there that they got so tired of how things were being done, they quit their jobs. Horrible food + horrible service = horrible experience. In short, Yard House ..... You've lost customers - which you should. Maybe you'll figure it out before you have to close your...
