Merlys Restaurant — Restaurant in Coral Springs

This is a restaurant that is small and in the cut sort of speak. Their Griot is fresh and flavorful. And they give you a bunch of rice and it's seasoned well. To be honest, you won't go wrong with any of their variety of cuisine options. My only and I say my ONLY critique because it REALLY bothers me and I am disappointed everytime I go, is their pikliz. It's cold, orange, and terrible. MERLYS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make the pikliz the traditional way. Perfect examples are CHWA restaurant, Pearl by the Island, and even Tasty. Their pikliz are traditional and tasty. I know people try to put twist on things, but this twist is not working. I don't want to have to go to another restaurant and buy their griot because of the pikliz. And I don't want to not buy your griot because of your pikliz. Please make your pikliz better. PLEASE! I would not recommend this place to anyone. I have worked in the restaurant business world for many years and never had the experience that i have encountered at this establishment. My brother and i was refused service for what reason i have no idea. We went in to ask about what foods they had to offer and prices. The woman did not want to serve us. She kept saying no food. So i asked you don't serve food here she replied NO. After watching someone just leave with their food. "" if you don't want to serve someone that is your choice, but at least let them know why??"" Honestly it’s a hit and miss with them. Food is good only at the peak of the beginning of lunch time so don’t try ordering at night. My last night order was extremely cold and not tasty, might I add a woman always answers the phone speaking creole and if you don’t speak creole she hangs up on you- this is done every time I prefer unless the guy is right next to her. If you call back she won’t answer smh. They need someone to speak English as well answering the phones. This is not the only Haitian restaurant in the neighborhood but the food is good only when they first open up so try your luck with them.
