We went with a large group (8) on a Saturday night. It was packed but they honored our reservation within about 10 minutes, not bad for Coral Springs. Our group had a variety of food. Most people ordered some barbecue, ribs or pulled (pork, beef or chicken) sandwiches. If you are not a barbecue aficionado, then you would probably be satisfied with the BBQ. If you are a BBQ expert, you will not enjoy it. I don't believe anything cooked there is true slow smoked bbq. Ribs are NOT supposed to fall off the bone, whether spare or baby back. But some people enjoy that. The pulled meats are really baked or braised, I'm sure.
However, we did also sample several of their other menu items: fried catfish, burgers, and wings were all really good. The sides are also good, especially enjoyed the sweet potato waffle fries and the coleslaw. Many reviewers seem to disparage the coleslaw, but I liked it. It is the lightly sweet, no mayo kind of coleslaw. Maybe they are missing the mayonnaise?
The onion rings are a gimmick. They are huge. Not just made from colossal onions, but cut super extra thick, like half the height of the onion thick (2-3" in height). The onions are good. The coating is good and fried crunchy. But the rings themselves are so huge that it defeats the purpose. You have to cut them with a knife and fork. If they made them 1/2-1" in height they would be excellent.
The service staff tries really hard. You have to flag them down to get their attention for drink refills, but it was quite busy and they were very nice. (They could use a refresher course in sanitation practices though (I posted a picture of their filthy grill).) My husband actually sent back his BBQ combo (spare ribs and pulled pork) because he hated it so much (bland, rubbery, not smoked), but they were very professional and replaced it (removed from bill) with a burger served on their garlic toast which he said was excellent. I didn't even get a bite! He also got a side of chili to top his fries. The chili was really sweet. I wouldn't want to eat a whole bowl of it, but as a topping to the fries it was great.
If you are an Iron Metal fan, there's memorabilia covering every inch of wall space. I saw several people walking around taking snapshots of their favorites. Some people make a pilgrimage to this place to see all the memorabilia or to talk to Nicko (we did not see him). It's 5 minutes from my house. So, we'd go back for the burgers and wings and a $17 bucket of beer on a weeknight when it's not so crowded.
The place was also family friendly. They feature a $5 kids menu (including drink) and the music isn't too loud. This actually surprised me considering the rock...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was beyond excited to try this restaurant and I was highly disappointed on my very first 2 occasions (2 days in a row). I placed an order via Doordash on 2/7/20 at 9:16pm. The cut off time for orders was at 9:30 pm since the store closed at 10. After placing the order, it sat there unconfirmed for 15 minutes. Once I noticed, I called the restaurant and spoke with a young lady who read off my entire order and confirmed that it "was being prepared". After that my order was finally confirmed at 9:32pm. I sat and waited and at 10:01pm my order was cancelled!!!
So 45 minutes wasted for no reason. After I contacted Doordash and confirmed that the driver did call the restaurant at 9:55 pm to say that he would be getting there at or around 10pm. This seems to have been intentionally done by the restaurant to ensure that the order would not have to be made. There is no reason for me to believe that Rock and Roll Ribs had no one there at 10:01pm when they close at 10. Also, if my order was being prepared as I was told, they would just give it to the driver.
I was able to let go of that and chocked it up to some young employees that didn't want to do their jobs on a Friday night....happens right?...not really, not with a competent manager; so I was obviously still very upset.
I decided that I would try once more the following day way before the closing time. I ordered a Rack of Ribs, Half chicken and the pulled pork. Disappointed once again! Sad to say that this food had NO seasoning on the meat and the corn on the cob was bland (no sweetness, no butter...just tasted like water). The best part of the meal was the BBQ sauce (SAVED THE DAY...only way we could eat the meat without dowsing it with some Adobo "seasoning salt"), the sides were also okay but definitely better than the meat. Ribs were not fall off of the bone AT ALL.
I do not recommend this place at all. Doesn't seem like they care very much about the product. You can get waaaaay better ribs and food overall from somewhere else. Fat Boyz BBQ, Texas Roadhouse...anywhere else.
I will never give Rock and Roll Ribs my money again and I will never suggest them either. I have charged this to the foodie game but I'll never forget. This is a CATCH!! Don't fall...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad to wait about 10 minutes before being seated, and was sat down at a table that was just barely big enough to not have my 3 family members and I bumping elbows. Our waitress was sweet but didnt say much, I don't even think she told us her name. She got everything right though, so no complaints there. The main reason I'm docking a star from this review is because of the wings I ordered. They came out looking suspiciously smooth on the outside, and I cautiously took a small bite to see what the inside was like. Pink near the bone on at least 3 of the 10 wings, and those are only the ones I checked. Our waitress was very quick to notice my discomfort and immediately asked what I wanted to replace the wings, and I asked for what my dad was having: spicy chicken fingers. Once those came out, I checked to make sure they were cooked (they were) and went to town. They were FANTASTIC, but definitely not for the weak. I ordered them hot (which is their third hottest, I believe) and WOW DID THEY BURN. I can handle my spice, and I have had hot wings at many different places, but these were by far the hottest pieces of chicken I have ever eaten, and I loved every second of the searing pain in my mouth. Blu cheese/ranch is a MUST! If you love wildfires starting in your mouth, this place is for you. But for those that dont like overwhelming spice, maybe order one level below what spice level you usually order at other places (if you usually get hot, order medium, if you get medium, order mild, etc). My 3 other family members all were very satisfied with their meals, and my dad (who ordered the spicy chicken fingers in their second hottest sauce, with a side of their hottest) who I thought could handle any spice was struggling and tearing up with the heat. It would be an easy 5 star experience if the wings were cooked, but serving me undercooked chicken is gonna knock it down a bit. TL;DR: Nice place. Bit cramped, but the atmosphere is cool. Wings came out undercooked, but they were quick to remedy it and I got some of the hottest pieces of chicken I have ever eaten, and they were delicious. If you love spice, this...
