Foundry Food + Tap — Restaurant in Coralville

Lovely spot, I stopped by on my way home. I was seated promptly at a table since the bar was full, but I never felt like I needed to move. My waitress was extremely friendly, engaging, and regularly checked up on me without feeling overwhelming.

The atmosphere is very welcoming and casual. You feel like you can sit down and enjoy yourself without feeling cramped or you have to hurry up even when the whole place is packed. The music is loud, but not so much you can't have a proper conversation with the people at your table.

I ordered the Caribbean Salmon with Mango Salsa as an entree. It unfortunately came out close to room temperature (they did comp one of my drinks for this). However the asparagus was tender, and the salmon was nicely crusted while still flaky. The cilantro lime rice was individual grains and a lovely taste/texture as well.

I also got the All-In Appetizer Combo. Let me start off by saying this thing would be an excellent starter for two to four people. I ate this after the salmon due to the fact they came out at the same time. Loaded nachos - while delicious these fall prey to the usual nachos issue where most of the toppings are just on the top. Although the bottom layers did have melted cheese on them so they did some layered work. The bottom chips were classically a little soggy by the bottom. Avocado egg rolls with mandarin orange dipping sauce - these are dangerous and delicious. I'll definitely get these again! Portobello mushrooms with dijon aoli - These were done well, they weren't soggy and the batter was crisp, I just wish the batter had more seasoning to compliment the mushroom earthiness. I'd eaten here before and decided to give this place a 2nd go, but unfortunately their food did not reach my expectations, again. Mom's A1 Peppercorn Burger pattys were so thin and overcooked; it's supposedly seasoned but there was no flavor besides a slight hint of BURNT? Definitely a disappointment for her that she didn't eat much of it and took it to go. Also where was the A1 steak sauce??? I ordered myself the Grilled Chicken Alfredo; the grilled chicken also had a hint of burnt flavor. The noodles were very slightly undercooked but that wasn't what I was most sad about, it's supposed to be Alfredo but all I tasted was blandness. Even asked the server where the salt was; and I'll post a picture because I don't know where the Alfredo sauce is either? Only thing that had flavor was the ciabbata toast which they rubbed butter on. Otherwise my plate was completely bland and I myself am not a picky eater at all. I eat out expecting the cooks to present a meal bursting with delicious flavor. I'm sorry but I can't say that your food is delicious, the only deliciousness was your appetizers and desert, maybe just stick to that.

The chicken as you can see has small specks of BLACK, do they just not clean their grills? There was mostly oil at the bottom of the to go container and barely any Alfredo sauce???

I would have liked it redone but it was already passed closing time and didn't want to wait longer to have...

Came here for my 2 year anniversary today with my wife and our daughter around lunch. Food was great but unfortunately our waitress was anything but great. We saw on Foundry Food + Tap’s website under specials on Monday All Day Kids Eat for $0.99 but did not see anything regarding this in the special menu on the table so my wife double checked with our waitress if it could still be valued to which she replied yes. We ordered our drinks and food, food was brought out fast. But our waitress never once came back to refill our drinks. We sat waiting for our waitress after we were done eating for 15 mins, when she finally came to our table she complained to us “sorry it took so long I just got done being yelled at by my manager for not taking care of a table that was not mine”. When we finally received our receipt not only did the waitress not value the special on Foundry Food + Tap’s website, Monday All Day Kids Eat for $0.99. But also upon looking at our pending charges from Foundry Food + Tap in our bank account today, we discovered the waitress had changed our tip on the receipt and tipped herself double of what we gave her!
