Updated Review: After my initial review of Maria's Mexican Restaurant over a month ago, I decided to give it another chance and revisited the place twice. Unfortunately, I must say that my recent experiences only confirmed my previous concerns.
I ordered the same burritos, hoping to see an improvement in both the size and the flavor of the meat. However, I was disappointed to find that the burritos were still much smaller than what you would find at Chipotle, despite being priced similarly. Additionally, the quality of the meat lacked proper seasoning, which greatly affected the overall taste.
It's disheartening to see that no improvement was made to address these issues, considering the feedback provided in my previous review. The size of the burritos and the flavor of the meat are important aspects that significantly impact the dining experience.
Regrettably, based on my recent experiences, I have made the decision not to return to Maria's Mexican Restaurant. This decision is made with the understanding that the restaurant has not taken steps to improve the size of their burritos or the taste of the meat. As a result, I will be reducing my rating of the restaurant by another star.
I appreciate the opportunity to revisit Maria's Mexican Restaurant, but unfortunately, the lack of improvement has solidified my decision to not return. I hope that the restaurant takes customer feedback into consideration and makes the necessary changes to enhance the overall dining experience in the future.
Original Review: During my recent visit to Maria's Mexican Restaurant, I noticed that they had changed their phone number. However, what stood out to me the most was the smaller portion size of my $9 burrito and the flavorless chicken in my sopes. While I appreciate that restaurants may make changes from time to time, the smaller portion sizes and lack of flavor left me wondering if the restaurant has undergone a change in ownership.
While I am disappointed in my recent experience, I am planning to return to Maria's Mexican Restaurant one more time to see if the food quality and portion sizes have improved. I remain hopeful that the restaurant will take the necessary steps to address these concerns and regain its reputation for serving excellent food and providing quality service.
To the new owners, I urge you to take customer feedback seriously and prioritize improving the quality and portion sizes of your dishes. As a customer, I expect generous portions and properly seasoned meats when dining out, and I hope to see Maria's Mexican Restaurant make these improvements in the near future.
In conclusion, I am willing to give Maria's Mexican Restaurant another chance to impress me. However, I cannot recommend the restaurant until the food quality and portion sizes have...
Read moreNew to the area, so trying different places to find new restaurants to add into my rotation. When I saw the rating for Maria's I couldn't wait to try them. There were three of us and ordered the pastor burrito, chicken fajitas, and chicken enchiladas. Here's my overall opinion of my experience:
Atmosphere: It's your average small cantina, looks clean and nothing to really note either good or bad.
Service: It was good, we were taken care of and didn't lack in courtesy, attention, or drinks/food service. You do need to grab your own plasticware for eating and I'm not happy about using plastic knives. Imagine trying to cut tortillas with a plastic knife, not happening.
Food: I didn't try the chicken enchilada, but the member of the party who ordered it, liked it. I did try the chicken fajita, and it was very lacking in flavor. To be fair, my taste buds may have been in full retreat by then from having eaten some of the pastor burrito. First, the burrito was overladen by red and green bell pepper pieces. I'm not a big fan of bell peppers to begin with as I think they are too overpowering in flavor and mask everything else in the food. But that was a blessing in disguise as I tried to find the source of the burnt flavor in the burrito. After digging a bit, I managed to find a tiny piece of the pastor (it wasn't easy to find it), and sure enough, it tasted horribly burnt.
Usually I don't leave a review until I've been to a place at least twice in order to get an idea of the consistency of the service and food, but given my experience this time, I'm pretty sure I won't be going back to Maria's on my own dime. The food is just not worth any of my money.
Edit: Based on the owner's feedback, I'm going to talk to my two other companions and adjust my review shortly.
Edit 2: I checked with my friends and I was wrong about the chicken enchilada. She had ordered a chicken quesadilla. But she did say that she like her quesadilla.
The owner claims below that they don't serve chicken fajita. Well, not only did I confirm that my other friend did order chicken fajita, you can clearly see a picture of the menu that shows chicken fajita. So, in my opinion, it looks like the owner is out of touch with his/her restaurant as well and therefore I'm downgrading my two stars...
Read moreThis was my first time at this location and I really decided to go based on the reviews which are pretty good, but I had a different experience.
First, pretty good location, and the inside decor was nice.
The young lady that took my order was very nice and helpful. I wasn't sure about all the items, so she helped me figure out what I wanted to order.
I wanted to try a couple of things, so I ordered a carne asada burrito with everything, carne asada taco with the standard fixings plus tomatoes and cheese as well as a chicken and cheese quesadilla.
After I had paid for my order, I asked if they had a Veteran discount; and shared I was a Veteran, but she made no offer to correct the bill-- okay, my fault for not asking in advance. Note they do have a Veteran discount.
It took them a few minutes to prepare my order, but I felt this was good hoping they were making it fresh. My order came with sour cream, hot sauce, and guacamole.
The burrito was huge; however, the steak was not flavorful, in fact, without the sauce the entire burrito was really quite tasteless, which was odd because it was suppose to have so much stuff in it, and I asked for cheese-- didn't taste any of it. Didn't enjoy it or finish it.
My taco was also suppose to be steak and I had them add extra stuff to it. I have to say it was just okay.
Surprisingly, the chicken and cheese quesadillas were really good. It had good favor and I really enjoyed them.
In conclusion, I literally love burritos, and was truly disappointed with this one. However, many people have had an awesome experiences at this location, so I would recommend you try them for...
