Was looking for a restaurant in the area we were passing thru and this one came up. There is a chain of restaurant/lounges in Florida by the same name and wondered if they were related. They are not. Not knowing that at the time tho we decided to check it out for that reason plus one of the reviews stated they had the best Salmon he had ever tasted and he was from Florida. So that cinched it. Being from Florida we have been hard pressed to find really good restaurants in northern Ga that compare, so the sound of really good Salmon was too good to pass up.
So, I ordered the Salmon and my wife ordered the Sirloin, and we shared our meals for a little surf and turf.
1st the Salmon. It was available in two styles. Blackened or Jamaican Jerk. I thought this is not good choices here as I prefer my fish grilled or broiled. Experience has taught me that blackened is usually dried out and destroys the fish, so I thought I'll try the jerk. Being from SOFO, Um very familiar with Jerk spices and cooking, and I do like a spicy dish, so that was my choice, but was suspicious as to how it would turn out. As was typical for restaurants in N Ga the fish was over cooked and dry, but the flavoring was good and not very spicy. The secret to good favorable fish is cook it just long enough for the fish to begin to flake, yet remain soft and juicy. This was not that, but rather, hard and crumbly. Of course any chef can have a bad day and can get overwhelmed in the kitchen, and fish has to be closely monitored when cooking to know the precise moment to remove it from the heat.
Next the steak. My wife usually prefers ribeye steak, but they only offered sirloin, so she ordered it rare. A nice juicy plump of medium rare was delivered to our table. The steak was tender and juicy and flavorful so much so that my wife that it was in par with a ribeye. One side of the steak was blackened and salt encrusted. And a little too salty. But overall a nice blending of flavors. Would definitely order again.
Mine came with white rice and she ordered the loaded bake potato. The rices was just typical white rice. The potato was a little hard and slightly undercooked for me. I like my potato soft that can be mashed easily with my fork to mix in the butter and sour cream. This one not so much.
The atmosphere was typical for a sports lounge with TV's everywhere and football games playing but not really loud. My wife and I could converse easily over dinner. There was also a good selection of beer in tap.
Overall a pleasant dining experience. I would not recommend the Salmon, but the steak...
Read moreWe went there tonight to celebrate me getting a raise at work! I normally eat their burgers which are always amazing but tonight I ordered the $27 filet mignon since I was celebrating. My side Cesar salad was good, my broccoli and cheese was good but the steak was inedible. I cut it in several places and all across it was connected by fat. 90% of the steak was fat I ate four-five bites each one I hoped to not have fat but they did and didn’t taste right at all. One I had to spit out cause it was pure fat. After cutting the entire steak open so you could clearly see all the fat connecting it. I showed the waiter and told him it should not have been served as a filet mignon. He agreed and offered to bring me another but at that point I was full and slightly nauseated from the small bites I had forced down and so he took it away. I ate my two sides, so I would understand them maybe just knocking off part of the meal but they didn’t refund me at all for that horrible excuse for a steak. Our waiter was great when he brought the check he apologized and told me he tried to get them to take it off but they wouldn’t and he offered us a slice of key lime cake to go which I appreciate but was still highly disappointed that they would charge me $27 for that sorry excuse for a steak I sent back 80% of. Normally I love this restaurant and have gone many times but this was by far the worst experience I have had there the only good part was our waiter! Very sad because this was one of my favorite places to go in Cornelia and I constantly told everyone around about it but a good restaurant would have made things right. The manager should have been out apologizing atleast offering to take it off our bill. I should not have had to pay $27 for a side salad...
Read moreFirst time there. Food was excellent! However, our waitress, Lauren, really needs experience. She was not remotely friendly, never came back to our table after we got our food, we had to ask for another drink from bar and she also did not ask if we needed a to-go box. Do you serve dessert or coffee????? Total unacceptable was your bar tender! After we got the attention of our waitress and ordered another drink, I personally watched her enter our drink order in the computer IMMEDIATELY! However, the bar tender was no where to be found. There was only one lady at the bar to whom she had been talking to for over 10 minutes and only 3 other customers in the restaurant . When the door opened, I observed her hanging out with several waiters in the kitchen. Our waitress was very aware of this and appeared to be very embarrassed. Guess she had no idea where the bar tender was either!! We waited nearly 15 minutes until she returned to the bar and began making our drinks. The waitress added the garnishes. No one seemed to be in charge. I can excuse the young waitress as she needs only to be reminded that her attention to customers determines her TIP and lack of experience. You lady bar tender is a totally different story!! Fire her fat ass! Between her talking on her phone, paying no attention to customers and leaving the bar unattended for 15 minutes ( we timed her), she adds absolutely NOTHING to your business. We will probably come again as the food was top notch but the staff can definitely rise to a higher level. 11/13/2017 Around 5:00pm Food...
