Normally we thoroughly enjoy the food here and know Ruen Thai as the best Thai food available of the Thai restaurants we have been to in the Habersham/White County areas. There is one we have not been to in Helen yet but this is a review of Ruen Thai.

As preface to my review let me say that it cannot be stressed enough that in the service business, the little things make the biggest impression.

Tonight my "brother from another mother" took me and my wife out and treated us to celebrate my wife's and my 15th year anniversary. We are very partial to good Thai food and having known Ruen Thai as a very good place to meet this need.we looked forward to a wonderful night.

My Duck Curry was good and my brother's Fhur was good. My wife's Panang Curry (requested with extra veggies and no shrooms) had very few veggies and mushrooms. We suspect the cook(s) was not up on their game tonight. I asked for a lot of extra lemons and was only given 3 small slices. I asked again twice but went unheeded. To their credit they were beginning to get busy but I believe I may have to start bringing my own lemons to get satisfaction.

All in all, we will return and look forward to posting a new or amended review with...

Ruen Thai is the best Thai in Habersham, the best Thai in Georgia, and best Thai in the United States (I've had some in California and Washington DC that couldn't come close to this place)! The dining room is closed and it's call-in, take-out only, which has actually improved the service. They answer the phone right away and your food is done faster. If you want to whine about them not having an open dining room, it's not their fault the goverment wants to keep providing unemployment benefits that pay people so well to sit at home. No one wants to work and this is the price we pay. At least they are still open and the food is still AWESOME! They can stay take-out-only forever...

The first time I tried this place was 15 years ago and it's been one of my favorites since. The spring rolls are perfect. The pad thai was a little light on the fish sauce compared to what it used to be, but still fantastic. The chicken fried rice is perfect.

The reason I didn't give 5 starts is a little unfair to the restaurant. It's difficult to find workers in Cornelia and they only offer takeout right now. Obviously the food isn't as perfect as it would be without a 30 minute drive to my house. If you're reading this review and you need a job, go here and wait tables so I can give this place their well deserved 5th...

I had shrimp Pad Thai, and my wife had fried tofu Pad Thai. Both excellent! I like the fact that these are Lao people, because I like the flavors better than Thai, although similar. I had spicy #20, and my wife had #0. If I'm not sweating, it's not worth getting! Oh yeah! Only thing I would recommend is that they stay authentic and not add so much sugar for American palatte. Stay true.

I’ve been going here for over 20 years. I don’t know anyone’s name, but I see the same people every time I go in there and they don’t know my name. We have a strict understanding of one another and what we want out of each other. It’s the perfect relationship. I try to make small talk, but it’s futile. The only language spoken here is the exchange of goods for sustenance.
