While heading North to hike for the day, my wife and I stopped in Cornelia and found this quaint and welcoming cafe downtown. The owner couldn’t have been kinder and had a great sense of humor. He was all alone working during the lunch rush, but we patiently waited 25 minutes for our meal.
It was absolutely fresh, delicious, and I couldn’t recommend the food more, BUT I have to take it down a star because of two overcharges on the bill. The meat and potato pie on the menu said it comes with a side salad. It’s a very small garnish of a salad, but I was charged $2.50 extra for it. That was nowhere mentioned and I certainly would have passed on it. $15 was a little steep then, in my opinion, and not the posted price. All of the danishes were listed at $6.50, and we were charged $7.50 for ours. It was good, but definitely not worth it. I’m not going to go broke over an extra $3.50 (and I still left 20% because the owner was so nice and all alone), but the deception of the overcharging left a bad taste after a nice experience. I’d still return, but will be more aware...
Read moreSo my family and I love to explore different coffee shops and bakeries around our area and found this place online. I expected something about the same as other places I have gone but boy was I wrong. Run by Colin and Andrea a husband and wife team. Right as we came in the entrance Andrea approached to assist, since I am in a wheelchair. She helped us navigate the tables with a friendly smile making us feel welcome. After a minute Colin asked if it was our first time. When we said yes, he proceeded to give us an explanation of his menu and baking philosophy. As an "Artisinal" baker, Colin uses clean, simple, high quality ingredients with no preservatives or high fructose corn syrup, and makes everything by hand. The results are quite satisfying. We had coffee and three different pastries, all delicious. We also tried some fresh focaccia bread with a basil balsamic reduction to dip it in. Wonderful! The food was excellent and it was such a fun experience interacting with the owners. I hope to...
Read moreI have been to various cafes around the world, and it’s always a goal for me to stop by a random cafe in every new town that I visit. I was in Cornelia to buy a cast-iron pot from FB marketplace, and thankfully came across this gem. The owner himself is from Britain, and we clicked immediately. I thoroughly enjoyed conversing with him. This man makes some of the most amazing savory sandwiches and delicious sweet desserts that I’ve ever tried. The key is that he makes everything from scratch, including the dough for the bread and sweets, does not use harmful corn syrup’s, and has a culinary talent to create these fabulous works of art. I only wish this cafe was closer to where I live, I’d be there every day! Definitely check it out, I can’t say enough good things about this place. I will be visiting Cornelia again just to visit my new friend once more and to pamper...
