Tonight (3/17/21) was my first experience at Cool Fish. I have to give Cool Fish four out of five stars not because of the food which was surprisingly excellent (more specifics on that coming up) but for these two reasons alone: 1. While I appreciate that Cool Fish specifies online that they require masks, and they will take your temperature upon arrival (which is fantastic and very appreciated) there's no social distancing enforced here at all, and the place was packed. 2. While they say "If it's too loud, you're too old" (and maybe I am old), Cool Fish was far too loud. Yes, it's St. Patrick's Day, but would have appreciated a quieter experience pre-9 o'clock. The DJ could have definitely pulled down the volume on his "Bruh-focused" playlist, which only forced the dinner crowd to become louder to hear each other over the music and each other. That said, if it weren't for the excellent food and good service, the rating would have been lower, but Cool Fish knocked it out of the park. We started with the edamame, and a side of the Asparagus Tempura. The asparagus was some of the largest stalks I've ever seen (which makes sense to hold up to flash frying) and the tempura batter was as good as any I've ever had. That combined with the spicy dipping sauce (which was in a league of it's own) added up to pure deliciousness. For our entrees, my date ordered the Seafood Bowl, which she was very pleased with and suggested I try simply because of the sauce. I had considered ordering the same dish, so I was interested, and was not disappointed. It was also beautifully served. I ordered the fish tacos, and I've never had better fried fish tacos in my life. The two tacos were generously crammed full of fish and complimentary vegetables, and topped with a dynamite lime creme sauce. Definitely looking forward to having a quieter visit to Cool Fish in the future, to continue exploring the menu... but I'll never come here and not order that incredible asparagus. (Note: if you check out the photos attached to this review, they have a bit of an unavoidable green tint, due to interior lighting in a fairly dark room... and the prevalent St....
Read moreI do not like to write negative reviews and I normally really enjoy Coolfish (might be because it is the only late night place that stays open in the area) but tonight was not good. I could chalk it up to being a rainy Monday but customers on a rainy Monday should receive the same food and service as customers on any other day of the week. When my husband and I arrived, the "hostess" was sitting down and even though she was pleasant, she didn't seem interested in seating us. Our server stopped by and got drink orders, then came back to get food orders at which time we told him that we needed to have the bill split so that my husband could expense his portion for work. My husband's food came very quickly. My app came next and it was mushy and not as well prepared as usual (tempura asparagus)....and then I waited and waited for my meal (waffles and chicken appetizer). A different server said that it would be out shortly....and so I waited again. Our original server stopped by and asked how everything was....at this point I asked for my meal to go because my husband was almost done with his dinner. Another server stopped by to apologize and said they were having trouble with the waffle iron...if I would have know that earlier, I would have ordered something different. A few different servers stopped by to ask how our meal was, and each time I said that I would let them know when I ate it at home because it didn't arrive in time to eat in the restaurant. Finally, a different server from the one who took our order came by with the bill and it had not been divided like we asked, but we didn't make a fuss and paid it anyway. But wait...ANOTHER server stopped by and asked us if we were ready for our check...even though we had just paid it. Yes, all restaurants (and all businesses) have an off night but tonight was EXTRA off. The many different servers who stopped by were all nice (well, our original server was a bit bothered that he had to work on a Monday it seemed) but they all were a...
Read moreCan you say RACIST?! Yes we had the most horrific time after visiting this place last night. I don’t like to pull the race card but they made it so very apparent that that’s clearly what was going on. We sat 20 min without anyone acknowledging us. I then asked for a waiter for our table. They sent over a popeye looking guy that clearly wasn’t interested in serving us. He reluctantly took our order and later brought out our drinks. Well needless to say that we didn’t see that guy after that. A long while later someone brought out our appetizers upon request. And about an hour after that we still hadn’t received our food so we had to ask yet another passerby if the kitchen had closed. She said what did you have? We told her, she went to the back and didn’t come back. Another server brought the food probably about 20 minutes after that. It was a sad situation. I wanted to leave so bad right in the middle of this mess but my boyfriend said no we’ll see it through. Once we asked for our check I asked who was officially supposed to be our server and she stuttered saying um kind of everybody but your order had been put on hold and no one caught it? We didn’t know so that’s on us. That’s our bad but did you want anything else? Uh no thank you. I don’t ever want anything else from this place. Not to mention the tables around us were getting constant service! Even the ones seated after us! We were the only ones having to chase someone down to ask for our drinks and food. The most horrible experience I have ever had! Good food but unbelievably...
