My rehearsal dinner was thoughtfully and professionally accommodated, even though I inadvertently booked the wrong date. I didn’t realize my error until I called about ten minutes prior to our arrival. We were running late to get to our rehearsal dinner that I had been working with Maegan, the owner on, planning for a month down to the cocktails, appetizers, mains and desserts for all 30 of us. I called to let them know we were on our way and I was met with a long pause, and then I’ll talk to the managers and see what we can do. We have you down for tomorrow night. Instantly I became nauseous as I knew my whole family was en route for dinner. My mind was everywhere-did I need to go ahead and order pizza delivery and go back to our rental? However, upon our arrival everything was being worked out and they said that they were happy to accommodate us. We only waited a few minutes and then proceeded to the back bar area where our fantastic bartender whipped up cocktails, bubbles and wine for our whole party within minutes. Beautiful appetizers were presented shortly after and without any hiccups our charismatic server announced dinner choices and began taking our orders after we were seated. I was so impressed that they never made me feel “at fault” for making such a huge mistake on such a special occasion, but also because the food and service was fantastic even on such extreme short notice. And to point out, they had a full dining room and this was in a Wednesday. I do not know of any other establishment that would have been able to make this happen in such a flawless, natural way. The impeccable commitment to quality customer service demonstrated and the professional team work that their management and staff have is unmatchable. I cannot thank them enough and would recommend this restaurant for ANY occasion!!! Thank...
Read moreThe ambiance is cozy and we were seated quickly. The kid's menu surprisingly high. $24 either steak or chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. The presentation was beautiful. But the child size portion was that of an adult. Or you could say, the adult portions were smaller than what you would find at other restaurants. We tried the Award winning Clam Chowder, as we watched bowls of piping hot soup being served to another table. Ours was luke warm at best and had to be sent back to reheat it. The black and white pilaf was good, but cold. As if they plated warm vegetables and sides on the plate then added the warm fish at the last minute. The green beans were gorgeous, definitely fresh picked and just as crunchy as if off the vine. They were barely blanched. The crab cakes were over seasoned with old bay. To the point one of our party couldn't eat it....much too salty. That being said, the management removed her order from the final receipt. They replaced the meal with a plate of grilled vegetables (free of charge), but she recieved them in a to go box, because the rest of the party was finishing up their food. The shrimp cake had 2 pieces of shrimp (not 2 shrimp) that were topped with Ritz crackers. The sauce, though tasty, completely covered the cake. I don't know if the chef was having an off day, or they personally do not taste their food as they prepare it. I realize this is a finer dining establishment and after reading all of the wonderful reviews we were excited to try it. Out of the 5 adults in our party, 4 of us had a complaint of some sort. Some of us ate what we could, and one of us wasn't able...
Read moreWe visited Mike Dianna’s last evening and were served by Aoife Z. Upon arrival at the restaurant, our party of 5 was promptly seated by the host in a booth - wasn’t a ton of room but we made it work, as it was evident that many large parties were present. The menu didn’t have a ton of options and seemed fairly limited, but there was enough to get by. 20 minutes later came our waitress to take our drink orders - at this point we’ve all read the menu cover to cover and had decided on entrees as well. Our waitress never brought us over Bread and was quite frankly absentee. We maybe saw her 4 times during our visit (1st to take drinks, 2nd to drop drinks and take entree order, 3rd checked once entrees were basically finished, 4th with check). This is very surprising as this restaurant has food runners, so it appears the wait staff is simply responsible for drinks/orders/bread. None of this was even really done to our satisfaction. Overall, the food had great flavor. By the time some of it had come out it was cool (not cold but pretty close) , but there was no waitress to really tell. The Manager stopped over and did remove one entree from the check, which was appropriate and appreciated, however the waitress did not even acknowledge the issue. Overall, we were very disappointed with this restaurant and our dining experience. Definitely understand that staffing shortages may be hitting OBX too, but this was almost to a new extreme. We likely will not be returning, nor will we be recommending this to any renters of our place. Hate writing poor reviews for a local business, but felt it was appropriate given...
