The service at this homey country chic themed restaurant is on point. However, for me, that was about all it had on point. Serving sizes were HUGE! Normally this would be a selling point for me, but not in this case. I ordered the country fried steak breakfast and got the biscuits and gravy as a side (as they came highly recommended) and a side of fruit. Everything came out quickly and looked delicious. HOWEVER, everything on my plate (excluding the fruit) was terribly under seasoned. The gravy that comes on just about everything you can order tasted like flour and nothing else. As this covered my entire steak and the biscuits I was left with just my little fruit bowl. I am not one to demand they take it off my receipt, I took a gamble and I didn't like it that's on me not them. So I asked our waitress, who again was amazing, if I could get some toast and she picked up that I wasn't thrilled with my decision I said I didn't want anything else and that I would just take it home as my husband or daughter would undoubtedly no care if it wasn't seasoned enough. She came back with my toast quickly and informed me I could still take it, but that it was going to be on the house despite my insistence on paying for it so that was nice of them. On our way out I stopped at their pue display and we landed on a pie we decided to take home. The next day when I decided to have a slice the whipped cream on the top was spoiled and I was a little more than unhappy. Wanted to find a cute mom and pop family type restaurant as opposed to a denny's or ihop. This place fit the bill to a t until we actually went there. I didn't get those solid tried and true family recipes I had read about online and to make it worse even my pie was bad. Had very high hopes and this place just...
Read moreI was first introduced to the Corky's dining experience at the Rancho Cucamonga location. I was really excited to learn we have one here in Corona!!! Corky's is a classic comfort food destination. I say destination because the menu items are sure to take you back to the days when having a huge slice of pie or slab of meat loaf put a big smile on your face. Corky's has an old school diner bar as well as large over-sized booths and tables to hold your dining choices. The decor is simple country and doesn't take away from the whole point of being there, TO EAT GREAT HOME-COOKED FOOD. Turkey burgers were recently added to the menu and it didn't disappoint!!! For those of you diners who prefer a meatless alternative, you will be pleasantly surprised that the turkey is fresh ground and seasoned like its a next day Thanksgiving Sammich!! It's topped with fresh avocado and mayo. I like dipping it in the Thousand Island Dressing they offer as requested. The fries (not kidding) look they came off a foot long potato. I have yet to get through the whole burger because I usually order a side salad. So basically (for me) its two meals for the price of one. Oh did I mention the pie?? I love the apple pie!! it's so fresh, you can taste the caramelized skin on the Granny Smith apples they use. It's crust is flaky and light. I prefer this to the doughy pies of the local competition rhymes with (Lame Lumper). Im so addicted to it I have yet to try one of their creme pies, which they are famous for. I did try the Brownie with Chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. Even with two of us tacking it we could finish it off!! It did however make a nice late night snack...
Read moreIf you are looking for good savory food, this is definitely not the place. They took our drink order right away when we got to the table and took them a good 5-10 minutes to get our 2 hot chocolates to us with about only 4-5 other couples in the restaurant. My husband ordered a western burger, I ordered my 1 year old son that loves chicken, grilled chicken strips, and for myself, chicken and a waffle with ice cream on top. When I tell you that the food had no flavor, it's because the food didn't even have salt. My chicken strips weren't even battered, they were literally 2 grilled chickens put probably in the oven or air fryer by themselves with no seasoning AT ALL. My son that loves chicken didn't even want to eat it because again, even his boiled chicken didn't have any seasoning. My husband said his burger was ok but stated that the Carl's Jr burger tastes better. Throughout our whole stay, the waitress only came to check on us once, we had to get up to ask for certain things about 3 times. My son did not get his drink, and not to mention, the price was pretty high especially for what we got. We are blessed to be able to eat out once in a while and take a break from cooking, but man do I regret going to this place. Good...
