I've come here several times before, and every time has been a great experience. I'm the type that likes to try many different things on the menu if I frequent a place. Yesterday I decided to try their "Twin Pepper Chicken" as I love spicy food. It just wasn't for me, something in it just didn't sit right with my pallet, and I swore my tongue was numb, and lost it's sense of taste. I tried everything on the plate individually to see what it was but could not figure it out. I'm very introverted, so decided the food just wasn't for me. No need to complain as that's the risk I take when exploring a menu. As I was getting up a sweet sweet lady came up to me, with fortune cookies in hand. She noticed I was leaving with a full plate on the table, and no to go box. I explained I had been here several times before, loved every meal, but this one just wasn't for me. She asked why and I explained. She then informed me that the ingredient that was causing this numbness was the Szechuane peppercorn! She found a piece hidden behind some chicken, I took a nibble, and low and behold we found the culprit. The peppercorn, according to her is one of those things that you either love or you hate it lol. She was the sweetest thing, and asked me if I wanted anything else. I told her I was fine but that I would be back. She them informed me that she was not letting me leave hungry, to pick something else on the menu. I repeated I was fine (because I'm just too nice to have them make me another meal) and she insisted that I pick something or that she would bring me some Kung Pao Chicken, well I LOVE their Kung Pao Chicken. I obliged and sat back down in this nice little place and enjoyed my meal. Definitely will go here anytime I'm craving Chinese food in...
Read moreI love that this is a locally owned business. However, if I’m being honest, the food isn’t good in quality or taste. Their plates come with fried or steamed rice and either a soup or eggroll. To me, their “fried rice” looked and tasted like steamed or pressure cooked brown rice. There is no way it was fried in a pan. It lacked any flavor whatsoever. The general tso chicken was mostly made up of dark meat and also tasted chewy and overcooked. The sauce was the only good thing about this dish. Egg drop soup lacked any flavor either. In the past, I’ve ordered door dash and paid a good amount of money only to have the complete wrong order delivered to me. It had the correct order printed on the ticket but attached to the wrong bags and delivery people just look for the tickets and trust workers to pack and sort correctly. This last time I ordered by phone and went in person for pick up. The place was fairly busy, but the staff ran around frantically which I think was so unnecessary. I picked up my to go order and drove home, only to find I was missing 3 items and had to drive 15 mins back to collect the rest of it and received a very unconvincing “sorry”. It was an inconvenience for sure, but the worst part was opening the food and seeing the quality of it. I would rather pay to have a smaller quantity of good food than a “big portion” of really terrible food. It was a huge waste of money and...
Read moreI remember the food being tasty and good. But after what happened I will no longer purchase from this restaurant. I barely make reviews but this one I just had to make a review. I’ve ordered through the online website order was going to be made and ready for pick up. When my husband showed up to pick up our order. He was told by the lady at register maybe she was the Owner, that she didn’t have our order made due to a misunderstanding of our phone# on file from previously an order was not picked up. We had no idea of an order being placed from that time period. So due to that previous incident our order today was not made. As he explained to the lady at the register of a misunderstanding. She went ahead and had our order made. As we got our order. The food was not good as we felt it was done on purpose. The food didn’t taste fresh, it had no flavor for the fried rice, the happy family meal made him sick after he ate it. The lo menu noodles tasted soggy and no flavor. The egg rolls and the egg drop soup were the only things to savor. I’m very disappointed on this JaJa Cafe has went down hill. Especially on how they operate things like keeping numbers on file. What if a customer had a number change? Would y’all still not make the food? That’s not right. I’m all about customer service due to my job. Mind you he has ordered before and his order was made...
