Passing through town, this was the highest rated joint near my hotel. Unfortunately, I can not recommend a restaurant that does not devein the shrimp in their "signature" dish. The rice was dry, the sauce made me nauseous, and the cabbage that comes with the chips must be at least four days old. It had lost all color and flavor. Staff was willing to replace my meal with something else; however, despite waiting 20 minutes for my dish, both types of shrimp were prepared improperly. So, unfortunately, I wasn't willing to give any dish another shot. Since I was willing to pick through and eat the shrimp that didn't have visible feces in them, I was still charged for half of this dish. If you read this review, please try any one of the other 4.5+ rated Mexican joints in the area. At the very least, stay away from the signature shrimp.

Went to Mesa Verda, so we decided to stop by Cortez for dinner, and man, what a great decision that we made to go here!!! Tequila's is as authentic as it can be. Starting from the chips and salsa, with picked cabbage, the flavors and seasonings go so well together. We then split a combination fajitas (beef chicken and shrimp) and oh my it was beyond our expectations. The meat were well seasonings, but what I loved the most were the mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions. They were cooked the exact amount of time, with great flavor. I also loved how they had cheese on their friedbean. Margarita is on point as well. Hands down top 5 Mexican restaurants I ever had. Also, a plus for the servers. Everyone was so nice and friendly. One of our neighbor table had a birthday, everyone sang and put cream on her face. It was so cute.

Got into town and asked for some recommendations to go for dinner. This was recommended by the hotel front desk, and holy smokes, he was right! The chips salsa and cabbage thing were good, the cabbage dish was unexpected, but had a great flavor. Nice with the chips. Dinner was tonight’s special, brirera tacos. Pardon my spelling if that’s incorrect, but they were super good! Stuffed with brisket, not filler. Three were the perfect size for a great meal. Chicken enchiladas was our other choice, and no surprise, fantastic flavor. Tender enough to cut with a fork, just enough cheese so it’s not overpowering the sauce and filling. Rice and beans were good as well. You can actually see the pidgin peas, rare it seems. Overall we were glad we ate here, definitely recommend it if you’re in town.

presentation of the food: 5 star (great presentation) service: 3 star (friendly but very busy) food: 2 star (food was not tasty)

I ordered special fajitas and it was served on a pineapple shell on a nicely decorated plate, awesome presentation.

Everything was looking great (I have added a picture as well). But the taste of the fajitas it self was below normal. It seemed to me the shrimp and chicken was not cooked with oil on a frying pan in proper sequence and spices. It seemed to me, the shrimp and chicken was kind of pre-cooked as opposed to pre-seasoned and only cooked upon order with oil and spices on a frying pan. A lot of water was also dripping from the fajitas indicating fajita was not properly cooked. Finally, the spice level of the fajitas was not acceptable to me, severely lacking of spices and flavors.

Finally, I was eating at the bar and obviously the server at the bar was crazy busy but he was friendly.

Bottom line: If I must compare with chicken fajita at a chipotle (with their hygiene record), I would strongly...

I ordered two Grande Combinations, which is more than we normally eat, but after a long day on the road with no lunch - having a good variety of Mexican food sounded great.

Tequilas had good reviews, and was recommended by the front desk at our hotel. Pictures of the menu on the website (posted 2 weeks ago) showed one of our combos was $9.25 and one was $10.25. I was charged $12.75 each on my credit card - so I feel like I was ripped off for an extra $6. The fellow who prepared the bill said they just changed the menu. In the age of Covid19 I didn’t want to stand there and argue and let the food get cold - so I signed the charge slip.

Note to management - if you really changed the menu prices, please post photos of the updated menus and I will edit my low rating.

We ordered 2 chili Rellenos as a part of our order. I’m not sure what kind of peppers they used - but they were HOT. Every Relleno I’ve ever had were made with Poblano Peppers - which are normally quite mild, and never hot. It was too hot 🥵 for my wife - and she...

Its a very Nice place and the serving Staff is fabulous...But the management leaves something to be desired..To say the least, my husband and I dying and everything was fabulous the food was great and then we took some home to the kids and I had ordered the shrimp nachos for my daughter and when we got home and she started to eat( its a good thing that my family have taught my kids to always check their food before just driving in.) They had left the feces vein in the shrimp, so we called and just let him know the most people that eat shrimp in any restaurant I would like to see the shrimp clean properly. Any state of Justine okay thank you will try to do better next time know we got argues with he wasn't illegal no it's not illegal. I guess if you want to feed your customers feces in your restaurant.... it's amazing to me that someone who owns a restaurant or cooking restaurant would immediately jump to get snotty illegal it's ok Google does not...
