Denny's — Restaurant in Costa Mesa

To be clear I love this Denny’s. I frequent often and even during their busiest times I feel like they run a tight ship with great customer service, no wait times to be seated, and food comes out quickly.

However, anyone using the app for discounts, should double check the calculation for discount. To start, you can see my receipt from the picture below. I was expecting around 4 dollars off with the 20 percent applied. In the app, it states 20 percent off you entire order, it does not describe any sort of restrictions to this even when you click view details.

For example, the person at the register told me that the super slam does not count towards the 20 percent because it is already so cheap. So already, I was a bit caught off guard because there was no fine print on the app about this.

So given the receipt below, not including the super slam, before tax 3.99+2.19+1.99+1.99+1.99=12.15

12.15 x (20%) = 2.43

But I was given a discount of $2.39. I know it is just a few cents, but as an aspiring accountant I would love to know the process behind this calculation I have already sent feedback to corporate about this. I don’t blame this location in particular, but the fact is this seems like a misrepresentation on the corporate side.

With around 1300 locations nationally, let’s say and average of 10 coupons like the one I used today are redeemed at every location, and taking into consideration my 4 cent deficit….

1300 x .04= 52 x 10 coupons = $520 x 365 days = $189,800 of discount promised but not given.

Maybe I am crazy and have too much time on my hands. I welcome someone to tell me differently and that I am wrong, but if something like this could be proved…Denny’s I think you potentially have a problem...

I asked for a cup of hot water since I was on a rush and the Hispanic old lady with the glasses looked at me with disgust and disapproval/judgement. She rolled her eyes and walked away with an attitude to get the cup I thought. She came back with the cup Half full of hot water(not even close to the rim with no lid) and I asked if I can receive 2-3 Fv creamers. She said “for free no.” And then Started to react as if I was going to react like she did aggressively trying to fight. I noted that with no time to waste like her and ignored it but then she said that she should have charged me 25cents for the cup of hot water. I asked her for her name and she started to walk away until I talked to the Busser that was near because he saw my confusion and she started to get close to eavesdrop on the conversation. It’s funny because I was a server at a restaurant nearby working Overnights only and I never gave attitude to my guests as they would appear. This lady is a No-go and i feel bad for the place if she is management. She definitely doesn’t care for the guest, doesn’t provide good service, demands respect as if she owns the establishment, and definitely doesn’t feel welcoming as I would approach that door. I would’ve preferred someone with a better attitude /person in general. I’m never going to go back here and never going to give my tip at this establishment. Horrible...

So its almost midnight, my friendz and I were waiting for our food for an hour and half, only one of us got the food. The place was so under staff, the waiter was starting to disappear. I went up to ask for a manager, she comes to me explaning what happen to our order, (shes not a good manager because she never bother to help out her waiter).

We almost left but our food was finally ready at the point. So we decided to stay but ask for a discount (which became a military discount 😞) The food was good tho my bfs order was done wrong (lil bit). I felt bad about this guy, wondering why he had to go in the back and cook out food? we were are all tire too, But I wished I question the manager "where the heck were you?" because she never came to our table and talk to us about the discount, or made sure we were doing ok. I think she literally hid behind the desk and blamed everthing on the waiter. If anyone sees this manager watch what she does. And tip your waiter even if they said...
