Poul's Bakery — Restaurant in Costa Mesa

DO NOT USE THIS BAKERY if you want quality and exceptional appearance of your cake. Was Horrified as the cake was presented at my fathers 75th bday party. At first I thought a grandchild had made it but then I was told it was professional made! Not only was the cake a neon green in color the writing on the cake seemed to be printing with a mixture of cursive, barely legible. When the cake was cut and passed around the taste of the fondant was so unpleasant actually tasting like toothpaste making the cake barely edible. The cake was lite but had no flavor and since the fondant was still stuck in the back of your throat, it made for a very unpleasant and disgusting, disappointingly and down right appalling experience for everyone at the party. If you want a something that’s nice, presentable and tasty DON’T go to pouls bakery!! You’d be better off going to Costco or another bakery and you’d wouldn’t have to experience this unforgettable, unfortunate experience with this monstrosity...

Poul’s Bakery made a 48 in millefoglie cake for our wedding and we couldn’t be happier enough with how it turned out! I was looking for someone who would be able to construct the cake live for our wedding and was so happy to find Poul’s! I called Ayliz and she was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. Not only did she make us a tasting cake to try before the wedding (it was delicious and exactly what we were looking for) but she was extremely informative about the logistics regarding the wedding cake and quite literally made our dreams come true. Our wedding cake was the HIGHLIGHT of our wedding! Everyone was so impressed that she was constructing such a large and beautiful cake live and it tasted incredible. To this day, everyone remembers our wedding cake and mentions it when they see us. Poul's Bakery made our wedding cake dreams come true! I had my heart set on a traditional Italian Millefoglie, but after reaching out to countless bakeries, Ayliz, the owner of Pouls, was the only one willing to take on the challenge. Not only did they execute it flawlessly, but they also built the cake onsite in front of all our guests—an unforgettable experience!

The Millefoglie was beyond perfect—delicate, crispy layers, luscious cream, fresh fruit and the most incredible flavor. I’ve received an overwhelming number of compliments, and I owe it all to the talented team at Pouls. They listened to exactly what I wanted, never said no, and made the entire process an absolute dream.
