My friend treated me to a fill at her nail salon... It was 1989. I got them done by Kay-K..& lemme just say....as a beauty professional I've never gotten my nails done & have been 💯% happy... EXCEPT FOR YESTERDAY!! this shop has beautiful esthetics and talented techs with up to the latest product & nail art!! Ditch your old shop/tech & get over to this relaxing, beautiful & skilled nail salon!! UPDATE: I went in and got a gel Mani/Pedi...a week afterwards I developed fungus in 3 nails. The index finger on my rt hand lasted until today (still) since the beginning of the year!! Months of dermatologist visits and trying to get medication to kill the fungus. But after all these months I still have a bit left.. My friend also got fungus on her thumbnail. No matter their implements are sealed from the sterilizers(?) nail files should never be used twice after they use them on the client. They should give them to the client and every single time someone's hands are touched. Nothing should be reused twice. I don't care if it's a buffer or anything else. Nobody's nails should be touching implements and then those implements are touching somebody else's nails. That's how the fungus spreads. I'm so disappointed in all these nail shops around here. Every single one of them is so dirty even though they look so clean. I guess I'll be forking out even more money to go to a Russian manicure because those people take their time and treat your nails properly so that it'll last you three times as long but it's...
Read moreThe service and work is decent. I was charged $90 for an acrylic fill. It was first time there so I just thought they were a little pricey. However after when I looked at prices online they did not match what I was charged. I called the store and they could not explain why I was charged that amount. They pulled up my account and they said I was charged $45 for the fill and $30 for gel and an extra $30 for French tip/design. Which didn’t make sense because that was over $90, then she said well it just depends and it varies. I was very confused because the poor girl did not know what to say and seemed confused. I’m assuming because she wasn’t even sure what I was charged. Then shortly after they call me back and tell me that I was charged extra because my French tip was thick. I wasn’t annoyed with the price but more so the fact that they could not tell me why I was charged that amount or give me a breakdown. I felt like I was charged whatever they wanted to charge me. What frustrates me the most is the nails had bubbles all over them shortly after. The French was noticeably thicker on each finger and was definitely not worth it. If you go just make sure you’re being charged the...
Read more1989 Nail Bar is excellent! I was able to make an appointment, name the services I wanted - gel removal, builder gel infill overlay on natural nails, nail art - and then was met with full professionalism with Claire for my appointment. The salon was clean, friendly, and easy going. They carry a lot of Asian gel brands which I tend to prefer and was having a hard time finding in a short time researching.
Claire was an excellent nail tech who took my inspo - smoky/marbly magnet in a fall color palette - and worked through how she would accomplish it with their products, as well as communicating clearly what she was doing during each step (including asking if the service was feeling ok, things like possible heat spikes and my comfort level with the efiling sensations). I appreciated this so much as I was coming in cold as a new client and having felt left in the dark by techs in the past and not loving the results. I would absolutely recommend Claire if you are looking for more Asian styles nail sets (nuance nails, 3d art, certain types of colors) and an all around good...
