Ramen Nagi offers an amazing experience that rivals some of the best options available in Japan. Having visited the majority of their locations including Northern California, my wife and I decided to try the Costa Mesa location due to its distance compared to their LA county options. (OC Traffic LA Traffic)
What continues to impress me other than the amazing taste, is their consistency. Each location maintains the same quality and standards even when going to many of these locations more than a handful of times. The taste stays consistent. That's something that's very difficult to achieve, but they have hit the mark.
Despite the long lines, the que moves fast and efficiently. In hopes that you enter your order in while waiting in line. That way once you sit down your food will get to you pretty quickly. The wait is unquestionably worthwhile for the quality of food served.
For Ramen Nagi: A tablet sign-up system outside would be super helpful! I understand why you don't do online reservations through Yelp or your website as it could create longer waits and more headaches than it's worth. But it would be great to have some kind of in-person queue system where we could put our name and number and order in (either through a tablet or with staff) and then get a text when our table is almost ready. Something like that would make the waiting experience so much better. It would be wonderful if, rather than waiting in line for 45 minutes to an hour during peak times at Ramen Nagi locations, customers could explore the surrounding mall shops while waiting. Since you're typically situated in shopping centers, this would allow better use of waiting time. This approach may have been considered by you guys and might present certain challenges. But speaking for myself, it would significantly improve my experience, especially during your busiest periods.
Thank you guys for...
Read moreWow AMAZING!!! Came here w my mama friend. She took mee on a belated birthday celebration. Was originally gonna go to Irvine for hot pot but since we were short on time. Came during weekday lunch at 1 pm 09.09.25 Figured ramen usually takes fast to serve and we both had heard so much about this known ramen place that serves authentic Japan Ramen. There were about 15 people in line when we got there. Ask the associate about how long the wait will be til we get seated. He said 10-15 mins and was right, we got seated within 10 mins. The associate asked if it's our 1st time here. He explained the different ramen style and how to order/fill out our ordering sheet. The form was really easy to fill out.
What we both ordered
~ Red King Spicy and kept it for the "Chefs Recommendation" just added Tamago (Japanese style eggs) The broth is perfectly spiced to perfection & really flavorful. Had a kick of spice and associate stated if we want it more spicy. Just let them know. The spice level i would say is like a 5 from a 10. The noodles were good & the meat slices were well thinly sliced. Tamago Egg is a must and perfectly cooked like the Japanese style yolk.
Associate was really friendly and receive the ramen bowl within 10 mins.
There is complimentary cold ice water already at the table for you,
The restaurant is a good size with lots of tables seatings inside & bar like tables. Has a big outdoor Patio too.
Right next to William Sonoma At the Crystal Court side of South coast plaza. 1st floor near entrance. Across from Nektar Juice.
Looks like they are closed mid day for a break.
Lots of parking in the Structure.
I'm returning to bring my teen son here. I brought some home for him and he loved it. Asked where it's from. I'll definitely come w my entire family to...
Read moreThis ramen place is Legit. I've been to many ramen places in my life including the ones in Japan and New York. Of course different types of ramen restaurants have their own charm, but this place is definitely one of the best ones I've been to. I had their "Red king" ramen and karaage. My personal highlight was the Kakuni (port belly) option in the ramen. It reminded me that of the discontinued Kakuni udon from marugame monzo in LA little tokyo. I'm usually original ramen choice type of person over other red flavors, because often times other ramen places tend to have the red flavor to add saltiness. However, this place gave me a choice to go light on salt option, so I tried their "red king" (and also tried some of the original broth from my husband's). The red broth was super flavourful without being too salty to the point I actually liked it even more than the original. (my husband said he still prefers the original over red). Their karaage was also Great. It had some sweet soy sauce coating on it, and it was super crisp. Loved the sauce provided with cabbage(?) next to karaage. Also they explained how they make their own noodles, not bought from other places. Needless to say, their noodles were great. Slightly prefer the thick noodles over thin for the texture. Overall, this place is a must go. Everyone is super nice from the guy who explains at the waiting line to the server. They also provide bib to protect your clothes if you need it. Personally, I need to go back just for...
