We were incredibly disappointed with our experience yesterday at South Coast Rep. My parents (season ticket holders for 25+ years) purchased A Christmas Carol tickets over the phone for the whole family, including my two kids age 6 and 4.5. No one on the phone stated there was an age restriction for the show, even when my mother informed them that the two kids tickets we were purchasing were for a four and a six-year old. Imagine our incredible disappointment when we arrived with the family and were turned away at the door.
Had they been kind, empathetic or the slightest bit apologetic, we would have been disappointed but understanding. However, the "House Manager" David Nguyen was beyond rude to us. He clearly did not care about our plight and shouted, "I won't make exceptions for you or anyone else!" That was when my daughter started crying. When we asked him if they would refund our money, his curt reply was, "I don't know- that is not my department." One would think that a person with "manager" in his title would be well-versed in customer service, particularly when the venue made the mistake in the first place by selling us tickets even though they were told the ages of our children. Sadly, this manager was rude, surly, inappropriate and he had a complete lack of empathy or customer service. They never once said they were sorry.
We left with two crying children in tow because they denied us admittance to a children's play. My season ticket holder parents are cancelling their tickets and we are looking into supporting other venues. SCR should be totally ashamed of themselves. And their uncaring, ill-mannered "manager", David Nguyen should get some serious customer service skills training. We will...

I had purchased 2 show tickets after carefully choosing the date, time and seats (based on the proximity to the stage, isle & price). Upon receiving the confirmation I noticed that the DATE & TIME that I had picked (Sunday, 2pm) were different (Tuesday, 7pm).
I immediately called customer service to find out how I ended up with such different tickets? The lady who answered the phone acknowledged that their online system had lots of issues (not very user friendly either).
I proceeded to explain my predicament and asked her to reinstate the date & time that I had initially chosen. After a brief chat with her manager, I was told that I would have to pay extra (double the price) if I wanted a "different" date.
What a slap in the face! Their online ticket system gave me the wrong date & time and now I had to pay more.
I was appalled by how the manager handled the situation. Not a real problem solver if you care about your customers. I felt cheated by Sergestrom. Could have been the employees who were running the scam. Either way, Sergerstrom is responsible for this debacle. SHAME!
You made me and my friend miss a show that we were very excited to see. Scammers!

Read moreHad a less than positive experience a few years ago. Havent returned to experience any event at the Segerstrom or SCR since. As i walked towards my front row seat, the usher yelled after me "are you related to anyone in the show"? It kicked off from there with her spending every minute standing in front of my seat questioning me. Basically her mind was blown that i (only person of my race) was at this event. I pushed back on all her questioning and she replied that she was surprised i was there without children (no one in the front row had kids with them). Eventually the other front row people stopped chatting amongst themselves and listened in. Usher returned to stand in front of my seat and question more during intermission and only walked away when i pretended to make a phone call. I left at intermission. Her eyes were on...
