My father and I go to church every Saturday night and then to dinner and he read me a review on this place which sounded a little too good to be true it was glowing that's for sure..
Someone else that told me they felt they were a little pricey.
I used to live on the hill for a couple years and so I'm really really finicky and the bar with me is very high to say the least..
I've eaten Italian food all over the planet lived in Miami West Palm Beach Austin Los Angeles Chicago Austin Reno lake of the Ozarks Branson and of course on the hill.
And boy was I impressed..
The first thing we ordered I had to have them The stuffed mushrooms the red sauce alone was absolutely fantastic and super top shelf... Never ever dreamed I would say this but as good as any red sauce I had on the hill from gittos to conetos to you name it.
I don't remember what I got but it was absolutely fantastic Just can't say enough good things about it these are not someone's recipes these are 100-year-old recipes that have been passed down over time.. One of the reviews I read said that they thought there was too much red sauce on The stuffed mushrooms just to clarify that sauce was so good I scraped it off into my plate, some things should not be allowed to go to waste.
I hope not a lot of people find out about this place because it's the best kept secret in St Charles and you can get in fairly easily on a Saturday night
But suffice it to say You cannot go wrong their drinks are fantastic The food is out of this world good it doesn't get even close to this in the St Charles area and man we got good Italian food in St Charles area but..
Obviously the bar has been raised.
Check out the carnivore pizza I'm going to have to get this at some point...
Read moreWe tried Liliana’s for the first time this weekend. Got there a little after 11am when they open, because we’d heard there could be long wait times. But we were seated right away. Service was great! Food was a little lacking in some areas. We ordered the fried artichokes, a side Caesar salad, a pastrami “Italiano” sandwich with side a tomato basil pasta, and the lasagna. I also ordered the Lily’s Sangria made with white wine and it was good, but tasted more like a wine spritzer than a sangria. The menu said the fried artichokes came with a “spicy aioli”, but instead was a chipotle aioli with no heat and didn’t really pair well with the appetizer. The artichokes themselves were nicely fried, light & crispy (cover them in Parmesan cheese with or without a dipping sauce and they would be better). My husband got the sandwich and he’s a big pastrami connoisseur and said it was more like thinly sliced roast beef than pastrami (no seasoning crust on the edges and flavor was missing). The sandwich wasn’t bad, just not what he expected. The side of tomato basil pasta was a good portion, but slightly on the sweet side. Now the lasagna was the star of lunch and I really enjoyed it. I’ve found that people have varying preferences for lasagna and for me this was a really good version. Simple pasta-meat-cheese-sauce, without the extra ingredients like mushrooms, peas, béchamel sauce that other establishments add to theirs. The lasagna was also a generous portion, but I was disappointed that our server didn’t offered the side salad since we were dining in between 11-3. Overall, the food and service were good and when I’m craving lasagna this will definitely be the...
Read moreSad to say that we were disappointed in our overall experience at Lilliana’s and had hoped for better. I ordered the Lasagna that was recommended by the waitress (was about the only dish that wasn’t a complete fail, taste was ok but I’ve definitely had better lasagna in other establishments), my wife ordered the caesar salad (worst caesar salad my wife or I have ever tried, greens weee overly bitter and the dressing had no flavor and wasn’t much more than a flu or less mayonnaise looking substance, my daughter ordered Mac and cheese which was not what I’d expect for mac & cheese anywhere. It was noodles covered in white sauce and sprinkled with a tiny amount of actual cheese on top and baked. None of the dishes had much more than a bite or two eaten except the Lasagna and I’d say that was about 1/4 of the dish.
Another weird thing was we asked for some butter for the bread that was delivered to the table because my daughter loves to dip her bread in butter (toddler quirk at the moment) and the waitress returned saying the kitchen/restaurant wouldn’t allow her to bring any out because they had already put butter on the bread…ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? If a customer asks for something you bring it to them, if it’s an extra charge let them know before doing so. I just can’t understand that thought process and would love for the owner to explain???
Sorry to say this is not a place we will be returning to and recommend that others don’t waste their time or money for subpar Italian when there are much better...
