Read moreWe stopped by the O'Fallon shop around 12:30 one Tuesday afternoon. We were delighted they had such a variety at that time of day. We found the cake donuts to be beyond perfection. A slight crunch on the outside with a moist, fresh tasting cake inside. Not even a hint that they had been fried. The quintessential donut. However. I also ordered my personal favorite: a turnover type pastry, made from either pie crust dough or flaky filo dough, with a cherrie filling. When I got home, I settled in with a cup of tea and my pastry. It was not tender and flaky. It was hard. I had trouble biting into the several very tough layers of cardboard like "shell". I thought the second bite would be better. Not. And very scant cherry filling. So, I could only surmise that either the baker didn't have the least idea of how to work with pastry or filo dough. Or, the particular turnover I was given was old. Like really, really old. And stale. It should have been rotated out of that glass cabinet 6 days prior to when it was sold to me. I felt personally insulted to have been presented with such an unacceptable product. Like I was the "stooge"customer they could dump it on. And it was a premium priced item! For that reason, I am gving Olde Towne Donuts 3...

Apple fritters and other pastries are good too. Tried their iced coffee for the first time and it was good. If you are a donut enthusiast, you must try their gooey butter cake donut.
I wish they offered some gluten free options, but one visit to this place will tell you that their business model and brand works, so they probably don't even worry about catering to the likes of vegans and gluten free people. I just throw caution to the wind and eat here anyways if you can handle it.
The parking lot could use a repaving and needs parking stripes, but I understand that they probably don't control that since they are in a shared strip mall.
If you are covid apprehensive, this isn't the place for you. There is little room for effective social distancing in the lobby, but the staff seemed to be wearing masks. Just an FYI.
But otherwise, this place is great. Probably the best donuts in St....
