Buyer beware! We have been visiting Silky’s for the past 4-5 years. Unfortunately, after tonight’s visit, it appears that we need to start going somewhere else for our family’s late night treat. Part of our order consisted of a kiddie sundae with strawberries and a small sundae with strawberries. We typically order the same thing at every visit. The kiddie sundae was on par with what we expected- meaning it had at least 4-5 strawberry pieces The small sundae; however, was full of strawberry syrup and literally only had ONE strawberry piece in it.
We didn’t eat until we got home so the issue wasn’t noticed while at the restaurant. I called Silky’s to address my concern with the small sundae. At first, no one answered the phone…so I called again. I spoke to Daniel who informed me that, “Unfortunately, the small sundae was made correctly and they don’t guarantee a certain number of strawberries.” I reiterated that there was literally just ONE piece of a strawberry in my STRAWBERRY sundae AND that my son’s (smaller) kiddie sundae had more than one strawberry piece in it. Daniel again advised me that it is normal to only get one piece of a strawberry in their strawberry sundaes.
So, I am sharing my experience so that other customers aren’t caught off by guard by what seems to be Silky’s new recipe for their strawberry sundaes. For the last several years, I’ve never received a strawberry sundae from Silky’s that only had one piece of a strawberry in it until now…but Daniel was adamant that this is their usual practice. We come from O’fallon and pass DQ, Fritz’s, Andy’s and Oberweis (among other places) just to go to Silky’s (Cottleville). I know for a fact those places give you more than one strawberry in their sundaes so I’ll gladly take our family’s...
Read moreMe and my boyfriend a few months ago came here for ice cream. stood outside for over 10 minutes. nobody said a word to us. I’ve never been the type to pull a race card, but soon a white couple came and they opened the door to assist. this left a bad taste in our mouths but attempted to give it one more chance hoping it was just maybe bad timing & the exact same thing happened this past weekend. Why is it that, nobody ever tries to assist us and ask us for help or to order? This is very unprofessional.. & sad. a waste of gas and time, and we genuinely gave this place a benefit of the doubt and tried to go here again. how ironic is it that you all refused to help us TWICE. before these times, we never been here. so it definitely isn’t because of any prior experiences. Why do you see two people waiting to order, I mean we literally have smiled and waved and made eye contact but when a white couple comes you guys are almost racing to the window. Disgusting. & very...
Read moreMy first visit here, and I was not impressed. Couple of reasons: they were quite busy, with a line at the drive through and several groups waiting out front. Although there was no line to place your order, it took a pretty long time for the custard to come out. Either they were understaffed, disorganized, or not moving quickly enough in the back. What made it worse was that 2/3 of our items were given out (no order number announced, just the name of the item), by 2 different people, but one after the other, and then it took like 15 more minutes to get the 3rd item after my husband walked up and asked for it. I found the menu confusing, but whatever. My biggest complaint is that there is no bathroom and nowhere to wash grubby little hands, and the napkins are thinner than the cheapest single ply toilet paper. Practically useless. It took a whole wad of them just to wipe my toddlers mouth a single time. Also there’s not enough seating. The...
