Big Al's — Restaurant in Council Bluffs

I live in walking distance from this establishment which is convenient for me. I do not drink alcohol but I do enjoy karaoke which Big Al has on Friday and Saturday nights. I can not speak for the bar service or beverage quality but the reason I gave three stars is because of the outdated karaoke software as well as guy that DJh's on Friday nights. The first time I stopped in here to sing was great. He pulled the song I wanted to sing off of YouTube and got me right in the rotation I sang my song and went home, it was great. The next time I stopped in to sing the DJ had obviously been drinking if being rude and obnoxious is a symptom of being drunk for him. Right off the bat he seemed annoyed that I wanted to sing and then when I requested my song I was told he didn't have it. He could only play what was already in the ancient and limited karaoke program. When I reminded him that I was just in the week before and he pulled it off YouTube for me he denied it and said it must have been on Saturday and I had him confused with that DJ. You know? Because I was so drunk the previous weekend I obviously was confused.... So when I stop in the next night and again request my song just to be told he didn't have it and that the Friday DJ brings his own equipment so it had to have been him. Needless to say it left a bad taste in my mouth and I haven't been back. Update software and equipment and replace the Friday night DJ and I will...

If I could give it a zero I would. The staff is beyond rude and lazy. My bf and i went there tonight as we do often and were turned away at 1:30 because they close at 2… ok.. Then the other night/morning we were told we would have to come back at 3 when they were open. Confused because it was literally 2:59 with 30 seconds until 3 and the guy told us we will have to come back later when they are open.. clearly they are serious about adhering to their break 30 before closing and not a second before they reopen that’s for sure. I was I could say that the service was the only thing lacking but the food is not much to brag about either. Save your money and go to I hop at least you will get half way decent service and food because this place have been a let down more...

Big house is one of the best bars in the area. The owners are super friendly, so are the restless staff. It's got food options and a nice variety of drinks. They have all kinds of games there including dart leagues. The karaoke nights are fun, and it's even a great place to go to for the big game.
