Jonesy's Corner — Restaurant in Council Bluffs

This place deserves a 0 instead of a star. The only person that deserves five stars was the mixed race lady that displayed professionalism, courtesy, respect and proper customer service (regardless of who you are and the color of your skin). It was my first time and my last time coming up here.

I’ve came through the door and have noticed some ridiculous stares from Caucasian customers (not surprising) and I’ve asked the mixed race lady do I order where she’s at or at the bar (due to me not being used to the set up of the place and being my first time there). She’d mentioned to me that I could order where she’s at or at the bar on the end next to the door. So I’ve went to the bar, but forgot to grab a menu & went back to grab it and sat at the bar after a Caucasian couple saw me and got up and left. A Caucasian lady behind the bar knew that I was there and didn’t even bother to give me a menu nor service me at the bar. I was looking at the menu and while doing that, two Caucasian men sat down next to me at the bar and that same Caucasian lady behind the bar surely acknowledged them by communicating to them in offering them the menus and asked them what they want. When I’ve noticed that, I said “Wow,” but when the mixed race lady walked by, I’ve asked her if she can take my order since this lady apparently refused to do so and assisted the guys before me that arrived after me. She agreed and I’ve walked over to the area and as I was explaining to her what just happened, she’d apologized for me experiencing that (even though she wasn’t the one that needed to apologize in the first place in taking accountability and responsibility for someone else’s wrongdoing.)

As we were talking, I’ve noticed a Caucasian guy that appeared behind the bar (not knowing if he was coming from the kitchen or somewhere else) staring at myself and this mixed race lady talking. I’m thinking “Oh, so now you’re watching us and seeing who that rude, prejudice lady behind the bar was talking about that she refused to acknowledge and provide service to?” Hmmm….Interesting. Immediately after noticing that, I refused to place my order and told the mixed race lady that and that if I was to pay for a meal there, I would be in agreement to the disrespect, no acknowledgement and rudeness that I was exposed to and thinking in the back of my mind that if I did place a order, ain’t no telling what those cooks behind the kitchen could’ve done to my order without me seeing it nor knowing in them possibly being in agreement with that Caucasian lady behind the bar being prejudice towards me and could’ve got sick behind the food that they could’ve prepared for me.

I didn’t trust that nor them and refused to waste my money nor time on such poor service and experience. I’ve had a conversation with the mixed race lady and encouraged her to keep going forward in keeping her eye on the prize. I wouldn’t be surprised that I was being talked about badly after I’ve left and that this lady could’ve faced or experienced some sort of backlash from me approaching and responding to her instead of the others (who obviously were Caucasian as well and in cahoots and in agreement with each other against me and possibly her.) I felt sorry for that mixed lady being a waitress there. I can only imagine what she is experiencing there in not being Caucasian herself and being the only one.

IF YOU ARE NOT A CAUCASIAN CUSTOMER, DO NOT COME HERE NOR WASTE YOUR MONEY NOR TIME HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE A POOR EXPERIENCE HERE LIKE I HAVE WITH PREJUDICE CAUCASIAN WORKERS THERE!!!! Unfortunately this seems to be the mind frame and mindset of majority Caucasians here in Council Bluffs, especially at these restaurants down here after living down here for a year, being constantly reminded of my race in a negative view. SO SAD & RIDICULOUS!!!

Overall in what I have experienced there was NOT COOL, UNCALLED FOR & UNACCEPTABLE!!!! NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO BACK TO THIS SO-CALLED...

We went there last night. It was the worst service we have ever had there. It was bad enough we will never be back. Busy or not it's not an excuse for bad service. First of all we sat there for 20 min before a waitress even came to our table, as both of them walked by us numerous times. Then when one did come over she took our drink order brought those back, but then I had to ask for menus that when she told me I thought the other waitress was taking our table. Another 30 min past before she ever came to our table to take our food order, walking by us again numerous times. We order an appetizer that they tried to bring out after our food order came out. I sent it back, which made the waitress mad to the point were we heard her taking crap about us, and the other waitress came by and made a coment to us as well about her hearing about us, not to mention my food order was wrong and when I said something she started arguing with me and said that's what you ordered. Its sad when a table Sat after us got there food before our order was even taken. We only see the waitress maybe 4 times. Never once came back to our table after she dropped off food other then to drop off the check and proceed to still tell me that's what I ordered and told me she doesn't know the numbers off the menu. If she doesn't know the numbers that would explain why my order was wrong cuz I never said a number I said a taco and enchilada. Need to make sure your wait staff knows the menu and needs better customer...

Great little place. Friendly service, great food, hot and fresh. Relaxing atmosphere, TVs that you can watch while eating and relaxing.

Update 10/23/22 This place was a literal joke those visit. They had a large group whick was monopolizing everything in the kitchen area. Tables that were waiting to be cleaned. Finally got a seat and ordered drinks, Dr pepper and a water and they brought out water and a coffee. Was pretty loud in there from all the people. Placed order. Started noticing that wait staff was telling people 45+ minute wait on orders. Went to check on our order and the kitchen and waitresses made it look like a 3 ring circus. They said our order was next out. I told them to bag it up to go. Then a waitress brought one order to the tables where we told her it was to go and she went back with it. Our waitress bagged up the order in a brown bag and brought it over. We paid and left. The attached receipt is what we ordered. What our waitress bagged up ended up being 3 breakfast plates and one container of large pancakes. None of whick we ordered. She never even bothered to check to make sure she was giving us the right order from the kitchen. This place has really gone downhill and I don't see us going back ever again...
