Man, there are just times when I crave a good burger. I had been out in the heat all day and I knew my wife didn’t want to cook. We have lived in Crestview for 11 years and there are still quite a few places we have never been; Destin, FWB, Niceville typically have the widest range of options so that’s usually where we end up. Not wanting to travel, I started going down the list of local places. Keep in mind, burger. Alrighty, Fatboys. Close, good menu. I’m in. I notify the wife she needs to get dressed so we can go (surprise!).
We are both going in blind… I have no idea what to expect. Seated fast, server got with us right away to get our drink and appetizer order… bang, I’m impressed. Good atmosphere for sure. Looked like there was a band setting up on the patio… this could be a regular spot for us. Welp, that’s about the best of it. The food was just meh. Not particularly terrible, not particularly fantastic. They do not server fresh burgers. What fist tipped me off is we weren’t asked how we our burgers cooked. Wife usually like medium well, I do medium. Didn’t dawn on me until after our order was taken. Next clues were the burgers were almost perfectly uniform in thickness, the edges had those pre-formed scallops like Bubba burgers and other frozen patties have, and they came out fast. I’ll wait a little while for a good burger. Probably par-cooked and waiting. The toppings on my burger were actually pretty good, but the burger is what makes the burger. So… the bill comes. I generally don’t pay attention to the bill…. I know what was ordered I know what it cost; quick scan to make sure I’m not paying for extra stuff, tip, sign. move on. Well for two burgers with fries, two drinks, and an appetizer came out to $48 before tip. A little steep. I wish I could remember our server’s name, she was amazing!
Bottom line- Fatboys is another example of an overpriced downtown Crestview establishment. If the burgers were handmade I believe this place might be spot on, but, they aren’t and it’s not. While the service is amazing, I don’t go to a place because I am craving good service. I doubt...
Read moreI'm not really sure how many stars each category should receive in this case and I'm not one to badmouth businesses or leave bad reviews so let me just tell you our experience.
This was our first time to eat at Fatboys and we decided to try it because of a coupon we had received in the mail. The flyer says to bring your coupon to the restaurant when you pick up your food, which we did. However, because we ordered online and had to pre-pay online there was no opportunity in the app to use the coupon and when we went to pick up our food they wouldn't honor it saying they couldn't do anything about it. Apparently, you have to call in the order or actually come in and eat at the restaurant to be able to use the coupon. That was disappointing especially because that was the deciding factor in even trying the restaurant to begin with. $5 off is a big deal as one burger with fries and one 15 piece wings with celery (not including drinks or tip) was over $42.
When we went to pick up our food, which was about 2:15 on a Sunday afternoon, the parking was packed. We circled the block a couple times and finally ended up parking down the street. There is no pick-up window that we could see and parking is rather limited, making pick-up not very convenient.
Now regarding the food . . . I absolutely loved my blue cheese burger! So, many amazing flavors combined on that sandwich! The fries are quite unique in shape and very tasty! Overall, I would give my meal a definite 5 stars and highly recommend it!
My husband, however, ordered the wings but since they failed to include the sauce he requested he didn't really end up with the true experience and didn't feel like he eaten anything all that special.
Would I try Fatboys again?...
Read moreSo I wouldn't just normally post something right after leaving but in this case I will make an exception. First time going to this establishment and it will honestly probably be my last time. My wife told me about this establishment but had been to the one in Destin, chose to have dinner at the one in Crestview and overall was disappoined overall with the poor or lack of service as well as the quality of the food for the price of the items. For one, I ordered the Italian burger with bacon on it, and when I got it there was hardly and flavor to it, soggy and no bacon was put on it, barely consider it sub par for basic food. My wife ordered the Lumberjack which was supposed to come with the sliced crispy onions, which it didn't. Not only did the food lack quality but there was a total lack of management. Our drinks only got filled one time while we were there and a majority of the staff just stood around casually having conversations rather than serving customers. And on top of that for being called "Fatboy's" the portions didn't match what someone would expect from a name like that. Needless to say it wasn't worth the almost $100 I spent on a meal for me and my family that I could have spent at the grocery store and made it at home. Thanks but no thank you, I'll pass and save my money for something worth spending it on. Not only beyond being satisfied but would not recommend...
