As the owner of my own BBQ joint (The Meadows Golf Center & All American BBQ) and an avid road tripper I'm always looking to up my game by touring the country in the off season. Found the FP while stopping at the nearby Buc-ees convenience store. Glad for the experience. My picky spouse ordered the Pork Steak and 2 sides special: it was a tasty bargain (and too big for the to-go box - see below)... light light dry rub and smoked to a moist tender perfection... delish-ioush! If my supplier can bring the pork steaks I'd serve them with dirty rice and a vinegar sauce. I'll be replicating the delicious pulled pork nachos using my own home-made cheese sauce and cuban black beans which might... maybe... top FP's version... it was really really good. Thank you for your quality BBQ and friendly service! If you're gassing up at Buc-ees in Crossville and yeah they serve BBQ too you are missing out if you don't drive around back and grab some serious Q at The Flying Pig!

Note location 229 Interstate Dr not what Google map shows. Pork seemed like it was boiled with no seasoning. Gray and dry. We ordered Family Pack $18.99. They do make own baked beans and sauces, just okay. Ordered ahead but still had to wait in line 15 minutes with those just placing orders to get our takeout that sat getting cold! Then they let some other guy who walked up to Pickup go ahead of us because he didn't know he had to get in line! They charge 3.75% to use credit or debit card.Cheap buns and bag of Lays brand chips. We were staying at Fairfield Glade and gave this a try.

Simple. Basic. Good. It's all about the BBQ. Had the very tender, large portioned, pulled pork sandwich with sweet BBQ sauce. My two sides included a very flavorful coleslaw and the perfectly warmed and cheesy mac and cheese. They have freshly brewed sweet and unsweet tea, which was my choice. They did not gouge you on the price of the tea like most restaurants do now. So don't let the smallness and the location scare you off.

First off, I have eaten here many times and have always loved the place! The big taters are awesome and so are the smoked wings! Always had a pleasant experience there! But today (6-2-22), was very different. I walked in a little past 4 pm with my wife and there were two people in line. No one was in the dinning room just us and the two customers ahead of us. No one was at the front counter. In a few minutes a young kid with glasses wearing a kind of Hawaiian shirt slowly made his way to the counter to take orders. As the customers in front of us moved to the side after ordering we stepped up to the counter and the kid just stared at me with this look like he would rather be anywhere on earth except there. He didn't say anything so I asked, "Are you going to take my order?" He just stared at me. I said, "Something wrong with ya?" Then after a pause he finally said in a smart aleck, mocking tone, "What can I get for you?" That was enough for me so I just told my wife let's go and we walked out. Every other time I have been in there no matter who was working behind the counter they were always polite and courteous. I just don't know what that kid's deal was but it made my blood boil. I am a very calm person but that was childish and rude. I just had to walk away from it.

Edit to owners response Thank you for the apology it is good enough for me. I upgraded the star rating to a 5. I do not want to hurt your business in any way I just wanted you to know about my experience and I appreciate your time. You have great food and I have always enjoyed eating there. Thanks again for...

We are new to the area but all about supporting local businesses, so we tried various items from Flying Pig last night (pulled pork, ribs, smoke chicken, Mac n cheese, potato salad and two sauces). I feel like you certainly do get a lot of food for the money, but unfortunately we did not like most of what we got.

The pulled pork was very dry and it did not seem as though the smoke penetrated the meat much if at all. It's hard for me to describe, but it seemed like it was maybe smoked for a couple hours at most and then finished in the oven. The pulled chicken was also dry and did not have much smoke taste to it either. The rack of ribs certainly looked good, but it was on the fatty side although it had the most smoke flavor of all meats we tried.

On the sides, the potato salad was good but the Mac n cheese was just strange for us....it seemed like they put liquid cheese in the cup and then added a small handful of cooked macaroni pasta. I'm sure they make it some other way, so I'm just doing my best to describe what we got and how it looked to us.

The regular sauce was not our favorite but the sweet sauce was actually quite good and we used a lot of it for the pork and chicken, because again both meats were dry.

Maybe we caught them on a bad day, who knows, but our experience was just not that...

BEST BBQ TO DIE FOR: My friend and I were on a trip from Florida. After stopping outside of Atlanta, we stayed the night at a friendly mechanic’s shop (that was located near Atlanta). While traveling we were browsing for food at our next stop and stumbled upon The Flying Pig BBQ & Catering while looking at google reviews and it seemed like a good place with good food and so we decided this would be the place to get food with at.

What enticed us MOST was many people mentioning how astounding their food was. Many fellow reviewers mentioned their dismay as they were unable to get the fabled BBQ Brisket given it is only available on Wednesday. And I am here to tell you they MISSED OUT!!!!!!!!!!

When we walked in a kind gentleman greeted us and their was a nice cozy atmosphere with lights and christmas decorations. We told the man we wer from out of town and what he recommends. We asked what the kind man at the register recommended and he said the brisket was a good option, either with the loaded baked potatoe or the nachos. Given there was two of us, we ordered both.

The food was 5 stars would recommend and would come again. Thank you Flying Pig BBQ...
