This place is exactly what Yelp was made for. This simple home grown restaurant has got breakfast down packed. Me and a couple of co-workers stopped by for a good breakfast, and we didn't want your regular IHop dishes. We wanted some thing that would fill us up for the day and not leave us feeling tired. Right away when we walked in this place was clean and friendly. There was someone right at the door greeting us as we walked in. We were sat down quickly and with a smile. Immediately our waitress asked us what we wanted to drink and within seconds we had three cups of coffee and glasses of water. I have to say I was super impressed with the speed and on what seemed to be a slow Wednesday. Right across from our table was a large party of gentlemen that seemed to have had a great time and that also caught my attention that these people were doing a great job. So on to our meals, I ordered an THE INCREDIBLE OMELETTE with hash browns and it was incredible! nothing on my plate felt heavy or overly greasy with butter. I was amazed at how this large plate filled me up with making me feel heavy. My co-workers order Chicken and waffles and your basic eggs sunny side up with harsh browns and bacon. Everyone loved their food and loved the fast service. The eggs came out scrambled by accident but within seconds my co-worker had sunny side up eggs cooked to perfection. She loved them. The waffles were soft and just the right amount of fluffy and the chicken was delicious. Let me tell you, for breakfast this place is exactly where you want to eat. The best part was the story we received from the owners daughter (Angie) who stated that the business has been in operation for 40 years and survived during COVID! That's amazing. She also told us how one of her cooks have been working there for over 30 years. Like I said this place is exactly what Yelp was designed for. Angie seemed like the heart and soul of the restaurant, she stood next to us to see how we were doing and just talked with us like we were family, it felt great. When Angie was done talking with us she greeted the next customer and started another conversation right away talking about what it's like eating out in our current situation. I have to say the next time I'm in Crystal Lake, I'll have to stop by again, but not for the food but for the...

the food was amazing and the service was really fast but I had a really weird experience with the server who was an older lady. For background knowledge I’m a server. So I’m there with my boyfriend and she comes over but he’s not ready to order yet and she said “no rush but I don’t like to be pushy so put your menus at the end of the table and that’s how I’ll know you’re ready to order” I’m thinking like okay girl that’s smart I’m using that. so she comes back when we’re ready and I order the pancake combo, which is pancakes or French toast, 2 eggs, and 2 bacon or sausage links. I get pancakes, bacon and ask to substitute the eggs for toast. She says “they won’t do that” so I’m thinking what the hell kinda place doesn’t do substitutes? So she continues “so what I’m gonna do is tell them no eggs and then I’ll find a way to get you toast but it has to be our little secret” so now I’m thinking okay??? girl we were gonna tip you good regardless you don’t have to pretend like you’re gonna get fired for giving me toast instead of eggs. Two pieces of toast instead of eggs for the same combo price is a win for the restaurant in today’s egg economy. Also making it is faster?? I look around, the entire clientele is old people. I know they’re subbing food up the a**. I think she thought I was younger and naive? She was very kind but it rubbed me the wrong way? Just to clarify none of this was in a joking way either. And when she dropped off the food she goes “I know nothing.” Really weird but the food was delicious and the...

I went on a Saturday morning and it was crowded. I walked up to the server and she said wait time would be about 15-20 minutes so I walked across the street to the little shopping center, 10 minutes later I'm back and I get greeted by I'm assuming manager as he seemed to be doing all the jobs. He called me by the wrong name and said he can't go outside to look for us so we had to of waited inside, he pointed us to the seating area, something that would of helped the first time. After about 5 minutes we got seated. We ordered, I appreciated how the coffee kept coming as needed. We ordered the Mexican migas, with side of pancakes, eggs with French toast and bacon. I was extremely disappointed with the food as this place had good reviews. The pancakes had onion slivers as well as the French toast. The pancakes on one side looked like they had been scraped by a fork. The migas had a hair on them short and curly. Both people present had long straight hair soooooooo... You do the math. The girl gave us the check and never came back. Overall the atmosphere was good, the staff was not very helpful and the food was not very good. I would not recommend. There was NO kid menu on the...

An Old School locals iconic restaurant. This place has been around since I was a kid. Great to see it still striving and surviving. 42 Years! Same great food and service. Nice to run into people I've known from the area from 22+ years ago. My two go tos when ordering... Biscuits & Gravy -or- the classic eggs benedict. I grew up on Woodland Dr. only a few block away from it. That was in the 70s. Anyone born and raised here, or living here, goes here. Great place to meet business contacts, or mingle with "us" local natives over a hot cup of Joe. Very extensive menu to chose from, with a lot of choices. Very relaxed atmosphere. If your planning on moving and living here...This place is a "must" on your list. Lots of friendly and helpful advise being given by people that have been and lived here in the area a very very long time. Welcome to our neighborhood! This is (1) of the area greats that has stood the test of time. Great job gang! Still got it going on. AAA+. EfcharistĂł! & Grazie! Wonderful. See ya again soon.

The best discription, its a breakfast place were the locals go and have gone for generations. But no one seems to be a stranger or forgotten in these times whether siting socially separated in the booth or outside (very private). The menu has survived to be as tradditional as one can find in a Chicago style breakfast dinner [northside] and delivered from the kitchen with all the taste and quality the proves this is a one of a kind place. Go big with the eggs Benedict or two eggs over easy, hash browns, lightly grilled with onions and two slices of whole wheat buttered, just don't skip the slice of ham off the bone as a side. Coffee pour seems endless as a reminder that there is a reason to pause and reflect being the most important meal of the day. And if Angie is there and asks "how ya doing", your now talking to some one who cares and listens which should be on more menus for a good life in today’s time.
