This is in the top-3 worst dive bars in Crystal Lake - entertaining, with sinister undertones. Outside of the regular stream of customers that roll out of the factories and into this bar around 6am each day to wet their brains, the later clientele and atmosphere seem like out of the Cantina Bar in the original Star Wars - seedy, dark, lost and potentially violent. When they aren't smoking outside and beating dents into the steel window trim while arguing, inside it feels like someone may vomit on you or a fistfight might break out at any moment over a dog or access to the slot machines or which light beer is best. The bartender is a pro and efficiently makes sure everyone is nice and lubricated. Drink and beer selection are about what you'd expect in a well-stocked basement man cave in your uncle Karl's house. Another iconic place that has been there forever...It use to be a pretty rough establishment back in the day. But, hey we're old schoolers and born & raised locals from here. The majority of us go there. We all grew up together or attended school in the area and know each other. Great place to get a brew or mix drink, and reminisce. Lots of old faces in here. I normally love this place but last night I hit a bonus on players world machine at closing 12-17-24. I left my info with the young blonde server and she said they open at 7:00 and she will leave note for the morning person to hold the machine for me. Got there at about 7:20 after dropping kids at school. The morning guy was playing the same machine cashed out and pocketed $140! He said I didn’t see a note, must have been the cleaning people that took down the sign on the machine too. I put $20 to see if my bonus was still there and not $1.00 was paid out.
