Forget Disney World...Seafood Seller is where the magic is at--quite literally! This place is located in a strip mall, unseemingly anything amazing, but don't pass judgment too quickly. The food, ambiance, and staff are out-of-this-world fantastic! Trigger warning: Yes, you'll see a few complaints and comments regarding the "no mask required" sign posted on their door, but look, if you are uncomfortable with that, then take your business elsewhere! No need to shame or bully this establishment--especially if you didn't even dine here. That said, there was still a long line outside their doors. It's THAT good. I can't imagine how crazy busy they would be during non-COVID times.
When we arrived, we were placed on a waiting list (10 parties ahead of us), but we asked to be seated at the bar as soon as it became available. Dustin (the host) was so kind to let us know when the seats were available. Might I mention that he was so cheerful and sweet greeting us and all the customers--immediately made us feel welcomed when we arrived! After we sat down at the bar, we were promptly greeted by Taylor, our amazing bartender. She is a total sweetheart!! We joked and laughed with her all night, and you could tell she was definitely well known and loved by all the regulars.
We were starving and everything looked so amazing so naturally we ordered everything. Literally everything. The special deal that night was BOGO (buy one get one) dozen oysters. Um yes please!! I'm pretty picky about oysters, but these definitely met my expectations! So fresh and sweet! We also ordered a pound of crawfish ($7 for a pound), which was plenty! We even had some leftover to take home. They were nice and spicy! This was the first time I had crawfish and boy am I glad this was the place to try them! We also ordered gator bites which were like popcorn chicken, but alligator instead. I've never had alligator so I had to try them--it's very much like chicken, but tougher. The spicy sauce it came with was great!
For our entrees, I ordered the scallops with sides of collard greens and jambalaya. I had a hard time choosing between the collard greens or corn, but Taylor recommended the collard greens, so I went with that. The collard greens were a bit salty for my taste, but they still tasted fantastic. Taylor was so sweet to bring out a side of the corn for me to try as well. I liked the corn more, but that's just because I'm not a huge fan of salt. The jambalaya had chunks of sausage and chicken in it, very well spiced and bursting with flavor. You can choose to have your scallops grilled, blackened, or fried. I chose to have mine grilled because it retains the natural flavor of the scallop the most. It was so perfectly made! My friend got the catfish etouffee which was fried catfish smothered in this rich sauce that had chunks of crab and crawfish in it. This is the THIRD time he has ordered this dish...and I get why. It was bursting with flavor and texture. I'll probably get this next time, although I'm gluten-intolerant...but it's totally worth it! They also have a separate gluten-free menu, which is just fantastic.
The owner, Jimmy, walked around and chatted with all the customers and performed magic tricks. This is what I mean by magic (I mean, besides the food being astounding...), Jimmy performed the coolest magic tricks that got my head hurting trying to figure out what I just witnessed. It was so fun and entertaining!
Sorrynotsorry for writing an essay. Words alone can't justify just how amazing of a dining experience I had at Seafood Seller. You just have to go and try for yourself. I promise you won't regret it! I definitely look forward to returning here every time I visit this area. Thank you Jimmy and staff for such a wonderful and memorable dinner!!
