If it wasn't for the server being wonderful & the music enjoyable this would be a 1 star review. If you are looking for bland greatness and cold food, then this is the place. There were 5 of us sitting in to dine tonight and just about every dish was cold and bland. We decided on this place because of the rating and the food LOOKS good. The pulled pork & Beef brisket, along with the baked beans was indeed good but came to the table cold. Coleslaw was creamy cabbage with no taste. Ribs cold, mashed potatoes weren't even hot enough to melt the SOFT butter, offered on the table. Bland. How do you serve 'Skillet' style Mac &cheese cold & dry? French Fries were cold even AFTER it came back from the kitchen from being "fixed". We coated what we could in bbq sauce, salt & pepper to make the meal somewhat enjoyable. To no avail, honestly there was no justice for the meal. To top off this monotonous experience, we were approached by the manager after we expressed our distaste in the food to our server and was offered yet another bland experience. He did his best to justify why things were cold, saying "maybe they didnt stir the pot before serving" and pointed out that it would be "easier to fix" the issues at the time of the problem vs at the end of the meal; (we sent the Fries back, was told it would take 5 mins for fresh ones and received the same Fries back 2 mins later) because the 1st issue wasn't fixed. Why would I bother to try again? He proceeded to offer a free dessert which we declined because, why would we continue to be disappointed by more food? He rambled on, still trying to justify the temperature of the food and we didn't want to listen to it because 3 of us at this table have worked in the food industry in which he took as an opportunity to change the subject matter to: what places we've worked at? Eventually, another guest of the restaurant came up to him to which he decided to give his attention to THAT other customer and proceeded to walk away only excusing himself and offered nothing else for this terrible meal. In the end we reluctantly paid full price and tipped our waitress and left. This was our first time at this establishment and we look forward to never...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn our way back from North Alabama, was planning on stopping in Cullman for gas and a break. Decided to try the new Puckettsās Restaurant.
We have been to the original in Nashville and the Chattanooga location in the past. So we jumped on Google to reserve a table just in case. We arrived about 20 minutes ahead of our table time, but they werenāt too busy so we were seated immediately.
Restaurant was clean with a neat decor. Waitress was prompt in getting our drinks and answering menu questions.
Food came quickly and was nice and hot, just like a made to order should be. Portions were large and generous.
My wife got the baby back ribs with backed beans and potato salad. Ribs were not ābaby backā in the traditional sense but she said they were excellent with a nice Smokey flavor. Only comment was they could have been a little more tender. But they needed no sauce to give you that BBQ taste. Baked beans were juicy and meaty. Potato salad looked like a combo or mayo and mustard, which made for a great combination!
I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. Two large deep fried chicken breast were steaming hot and crispy. Covered in white gravy, which was just a tad salty. Coarse mashed potatoes covered in brown gravy were amazing. Reminded me of something I would make in my own kitchen. Green beans were typical restaurant green beans, needed a little salt for my taste. Not bad but not excellent.
The cornbread pancake was a winner for sure! We asked for seconds on them and the waitress politely brought us a second portion. Crisp on the outside, good white cornmeal on the inside. Covered in butter I could have eaten a plate full!
I had heard this location was struggling with service right after opening. But I did not have that experience! Everything was great except for the few seasoning comments. Had excellent service and we will be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame here for some brunch on the way back home from Huntsville. You can tell the bldg was once home to a larger chain restaurant of some sort. It's right off I65, next to a bunch of lodging, and has plenty of parking and seating inside.
The restaurant was pretty dead when I got there due to the time of day, but it seemed like both the waitresses I talked to were all out of breath and overwhelmed. Maybe they were just reeling from the breakfast crowd that had recently left.
The bathrooms were fairly clean and decorated super funky with old timey trinkets over the sink. There were cute slogan signs all over the walls everywhere you looked and it seemed like they had an eclectic beer/alcoholic beverage selection. It was 11AM and I had another hour and a half drive home, so I couldn't partake.
They were nice enough to still put in an order for breakfast even at 10:56. Their coffee was outstanding for a restaurant. I actually asked for a cup to go, it was that worthwhile.
I got a platter with scrambled eggs and cheese, a few pieces of bacon, and 3 pancakes. The eggs were a little bland but a little salt and pepper did the trick. They were creamy with the cheese incorporated. The bacon was delicious, but the pancakes were a little doughy inside and dry outside. They had probably been under a heat lamp since it was the end of breakfast, to be honest, so that's on me.
The only other qualm I have would be the service. You could tell the ladies working absolutely thought I was just some "Yankee" passing through and their demeanor said it all. They weren't very friendly or talkative, despite me being a local. I guess they get a lot of tourists, but they need to brush up on customer service if they treat out-of-towners...
