RUDE, OBNOXIOUS, AND DISCRIMINATORY PRACTICES. We arrived at The Corner Door with a party of 25 people after a gallery show. Our group broke up into groups to order drinks and food. Your bartender BEAU frankly didn't want to serve us. He specifically told us very rudely, "Give me your card. Is this all that you are going to order because I have a huge party to serve over there." I told him, "We are part of that party and we will be making purchases throughout the night." He completely lied and stated that he didn't say 'party', which he clearly did. Just our party of 5 order close to $500 worth of food and drinks. We would have ordered more. My party included: an Influencer Marketing company co-founder, a prominent LA artist, a Disney Director and a Los Angeles Times journalist, who was actually interested in writing an article about The Corner Door. He asked about the theme and correlation between Alice in Wonderland and The Corner Door. BEAU rudely stated, "There are no correlations. It's just Alice." It's quite weird that your staff does not know the history behind your establishment. I asked my remaining party of 20, all of whom happened to be Caucasians, had they experienced BEAU asking for a card without stating āHiā, and if he told them to order all of their drinks for the night up front? They stated, NO!
You missed HUGE opportunities that night: more money pumping into your establishment, a possible review in the LA TIMES, and future visits from myself and my party.
Do you have a license to use Alice in Wonderland imagery and IP? If you don't, I think Disney would consider that an infringement on their IP.
Train your staff. TRAIN BEAU. RACISM SUCKS AND SO DOES BEAU! Hopefully, BEAU is not a reflection of both the management and owners at The...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat cocktails. Delicious food. Chill cute place. Highly recommend. The cocktails are definitely of the craft variety. They are well made and delicious. They are pricey, but no more than any other good cocktail spot in southern California and they're definitely better than most. So definitely not overpriced. They also have a selection of beer & wine, not of the macro afterthought variety. The food is pricey, but high quality, so I'd argue not overpriced. Much better than most bar food. Their tacos are also delicious. Again, pricey compared to most tacos, but also way better than most taco places. Seriously, try the tacos. They're just plain good and hold their own against some of the places traditionally named as taco mainstays, as well as being unexpectedly great for tacos at a Culver City bar. The place is definitely higher class than a local dive bar, yet they aren't too pretentious. It's a chill, relaxed, casual, cute cozy place. Nice slightly eclectic, but nice comforting decor. It's never been crowded when I've gone, even on a Friday, Saturday night. There's comfortable seating as well as bar seating and a few outdoor tables. The service has always been helpful, attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Don't forget to tip well. They don't have their own lot, but I've generally found street parking in the area quite easily. Again, I highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFriday night (4/1) my wife and I were looking for a place to eat. I choose the Corner Door because its aethetics caught my eye. After we ordered, the waitress asked to hold our credit card for payment. We hadn't even been given a glass of water. This did not set well with my wife, I didn't like it either but the waitress was so innocent and nice I tried to ignore the sense of discrimination this brought to my evening. The waitress explained that this was the policy of the restaurant because people often get up and leave without paying. We are pretty experienced diners, I won't say that we have traveled the world but we have been to many of the best restaurants in LA , the US and the many places we have travelled outside of the country. We have never been asked to give a credit card upon ordering. This was highly insulting to us both. We left and walked to a nearby restaurant and had one of the best, eclectic dinners we have had in a long time. So they did us a favor. Has anyone else had pay first experience?? If so does it...
