My God, this was the WORST restaurant experience I’ve ever had. I don’t even know where to begin. Firstly, we were ignored upon waiting to be seated and then were handed menus and the waitress pointed to the table and had us walk there ourselves. We also could barely hear ourselves talk, because they sat us next to the speakers which were blasting wayyyy too loud with live music. Then, the manager came over to take our drink orders and food orders. We did not see him again for another 30 minutes, when he finally came with our waters. One of my friends had a question about the menu, and his response was “I should probably know this since I’m the manager, but I don’t, haha!” So he clearly had 0 clue what he was doing there. He also was extremely rude to one of my friends when she ordered a calzone with veggies in it, stating “ew, that’s disgusting! No meat?? Why would you eat that??” Maybe because she’s a vegetarian, but please continue to insult your patrons. Anyways, about 45 minutes after we got our waters, we still had no food. One friend from our party of 5 went to go ask where it was, and we were told it was “coming out right now” and we got NO apology for the horrendous wait (when it was not even busy!). We asked for more water since in the 45 minutes we had drank it all, and we didn’t get a refill for another 20 mins, which consisted of the manager running over with a pitcher, throwing it on the table next to us, and running off without a word.
The food itself somehow managed to be even worse than the service. I spent $10 on a LARGE fried vegetable basket pictured below, with only 7 mushrooms and not even a whole pickle. I shudder to imagine what is in the small sized basket for $6. Also, my $4 mac and cheese side was COLD, and wasn’t even homemade, it was Kraft with a little bit of parsley on top. It was clearly old with a disgusting film over it and was not eaten. The veggies were cold too. My other friends got chicken Parmesan that had slimy, undercooked chicken (and two mounds which should have been two chicken breasts, but only one could be found. The other mound was sauce disguised as another breast) and a salad that came 10 mins after the rest of the food, with chicken that was not cut but was clearly ripped apart with hands, and tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for 4 days. After we half-ate our terrible food, we had already been there over 2 hours and we had to cancel dessert because it would’ve taken another half hour. Our complaints fell on deaf ears, and I had to pay $15 for this terrible experience, just to have to go to Dairy Queen afterwards because we were still hungry.
I really wanted to like this place, but now I won’t even go back for Club Angelos with other LMU students. I will continue to tell everyone I know — save yourself the trouble and STAY AWAY from this...
Read moreThe couple that dined with us ordered deep fried mushrooms. When the mushrooms came to the table they each had one and both felt as if they weren't cooked completely. With that, the couple decided they just didn't want the mushrooms and sent them back to the kitchen. The Manager made the decision that they needed to still pay for half even given that only two were ate, or attempted to be eaten. When the bill came it was of course on one check so that they could collect gratuity on a party of six (one being a child that shared a plate with myself). The staff gave a hassle when asked to correct this, and once the bill was correctly divided, again 20% gratuity was added automatically with informing us that this was happening. By this point my wife and I are quite aggravated. I have no problem leaving a tip for the service rendered by our server, however the amount will be what I see fit for said service. If the service is above and beyond what is expected I'll leave more than 20% if it's less than desired I'll leave l less but what I leave for a tip is my decision. My wife then approached the clerk to pay our bill and have the gratuity removed (we left a 15% tip on the table). The Manager then preceded to be rude with my wife and told her that she'd just have to pay it. To be quite honest that man needs to be thankful that I had went ahead to take our child to the vehicle. Needless to say I've made my last trip here and I encourage others to choose a different establishment for food and drinks. With an attitude and people skills like this, it's not surprising the "Manager" couldn't keep "He Hu Darz" open in the Middlesboro Mall. The only reason this a one star rating is it won't let...
Read moreAnytime we are near the Gap, we enjoy dining at Angelo’s. We were within an hour of there and decided to drive up for dinner. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:34pm, and was immediately seated. We sat there for 20 minutes, before a waitress cto our table. She asked if we had been helped. My husband told her no, in which she asked who may have seated us, because the kitchen had already shut down. While we were sitting there, waiting for a server, we watched a larger group come in, be seated, and served drinks, well before we were even looked at. She said that the kitchen shut down 10 minutes ago, but we told her we have been sitting 20 minutes. We walked out at 7:58. My husband and I are very disappointed in this experience. If the kitchen was shut down, we should have been told so, or if we just missed the kitchen, they open it back up for 2 peoples’ orders. We watched the servers walk back and forth, beside our table, never acknowledging us. We were the first table from the host stand, so it’s not like we were out of the way. The weather was pouring rain, and we made sure we would be there before closing. The door said open until 9pm. Angelo’s is special to us, as my husband and I had our first date there, enjoyed our honeymoon in the Gap, and love to go up any chance we have. Being turned away after being seated hurt us. Not a good way to keep a customer. Not sure when, or if, we...
