I ordered frappes through the app, but when I arrived, they said the machine was not working. I told them that was fine and asked the cashier for a refund. The cashier said, “Hold on a moment,” and disappeared. After a few minutes, they came back with another employee.
This employee told me, "You can't have a refund but you can have something else." I said, "I don't want anything else. We just like the frappes. Just a refund is fine." The employee said, "You will have to get a refund in the app." I told them, "There's not an option to get a refund in the app." They shrugged and said, "I can't give you a refund. You have to request it in the app." I said again, "But there's no option for a refund in the app." They shrugged again and said, "I can't help you."
I said, "Am I supposed to just leave and you guys keep my money and I get nothing?" The employee said, "I can't give you a refund. Just something else." I said once again, "I don't want anything else. I just want a refund. I haven't gotten anything for the money I paid. Am I just supposed to leave? There's no option in the app for a refund. I don't have a way to do anything." They shrugged again.
I asked for the manager, and they said, "I am the manager." I said, "You are the manager and you don't know how to do a refund?" They said, "You have to do it in the app. I can't help you." (At this point, it’s important to understand that there is absolutely no option to get a refund in the app—I even confirmed this afterward on the McDonald’s site.) So I said again, "I'm just supposed to leave and you guys keep my money and I have nothing?" They shrugged again and said, "Yes, I can't help you. I can give you something else." Then this employee/manager just walked off while I was trying to talk to them.
At this point, I was sitting there with the cashier, looking through the app, trying to figure out what to do. The cashier suddenly said, "You know, since we have a receipt printed out here, I don't know why we can't just give you a refund using this receipt?" He took the receipt over to the other employee and, sure enough, about five minutes later they came back to the window with a refund.
Unbelievable. The cashier solved the problem, but the "manager" was absolutely terrible. By far the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my years. The good news is McDonald’s is fundamentally unhealthy, and with this type of service, now I have two reasons to never go...
Read moreWent to the drive thru. I was the only car at the speaker. A second vehicle pulled up into the second lane. We waited for 3 minutes and nobody acknowledged us. Yes....I actually timed it. The second vehicle left and I said "HELLO" into the speaker. The person working there said "just a second". So I waited. Another vehicle pulled up to the second speaker and her order was taken IMMEDIATELY. I was livid. I pulled around the building and there was only one vehicle in line. I parked my car and went inside. There was only one person inside the lobby. I asked to see the manager. It took him a while but he finally came to the counter. I explained what happened and he was very flippant about it. He could have cared less tbh. He shrugged his shoulders and said "there's only two of us working up front and we're doing the best we can. " I know he said it twice, possibly a third time. He said he'd give me a free meal. While I was filling my drink the general manager came in and I spoke with her. Hopefully she got things turned in the right direction. No ice in the soda, cold fries, all while taking 15 mins to get through the drive through and another 15 mins to give them back the food only to take it back and then tell me to refund it through the app, which doesn't have a refund. Go to any other McDonalds.
Don't use the McDonald's app ever. I waited another 15 mins to give them back their food, they told me they can't refund me, that I would have to do it through the app. There is no refund option in the app. Their TOS in the app say's the refund comes from the restaurant. The app TOS is completely invalid and wrong, your going to go in circles using that poorly designed and thought app with a invalid TOS.
I suggest to never use the App, they will take your money with no way to get a refund when they screw you. If they have an order button, there should be a way to request a refund just as easy when you get screwed, which if you go to this McDonald's it's...
