California Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Cumru Township

I've lived in Shillington for 15 years & visited frequently, owners have changed multiple times during that time & it still seems to be going down hill more and more OR their staff manners are just non-existent. I visited Sunday night 1/12 to watch the Packers game and sat at the bar with a friend to grab a few beers & dinner. We got served our beers pretty quickly but the bartender was clueless & didn't offer dinner menus until we had to ask for them after 10 minutes of not being tended to. There was maybe 5-6 other patrons there & DEFINITELY not busy what so ever. We were waiting for 2 other friends to join us & asked to order them 2 coors lights for them so it was ready when they got there. I asked the bartender for the beers & she acknowledged it but just kept going on with washing glasses & talking with the other coworker and not bringing the beers. I timed it to see how long it would take & asked her for a 3rd time for the beers (12 minutes). Once my friends arrived we moved to a dinner table away from the bar. That's where things really got disappointing. The waitress that served us was extremely forgetful, poor manners, & lack of checking on us. She had forgotten our drinks after we finished the 1st & requested refills, forgot some orders we placed for sides & was no help when my personal size veggie pizza came out. My pizza bottom was all charred and burnt that I could not eat the bread part whatsoever & requested a bread steak roll so that I could transfer the veggies & cheese to the roll since I couldn't enjoy the pizza. She offered no help to remake it or take it off the bill or offered to get something else. The biggest issue I had was the time it took for our food & drinks to be given as I said it was COMPLETELY DEAD in the establishment with 5 or 6 total people & I believe one was a worker that was just eating. The staff didn't seem to care much about the patrons as they had no problems just chatting away instead of tending to the customers in a timely fashion. If it was busy I would have completely understood. Once we finished we got our bill & paid. Normally I tip 20-25% on our $90 bill & gave her 15% instead which still wasn't justified with her service to give her about $15 for less than 40 minutes of minimal service. Even when leaving she didnt thank us or say goodbye while she was cleaning the table and watched us leave. My 2 friends even said she pretty much looked like she didn't want...

The food was great! We had wings, cheesesteaks, burgers, sandwiches and everyone was happy. However the service was the worst I've experienced maybe ever. There were maybe 5 other tables, so no excuse for such lousy service. Part of our group of 5 was there and seated so they asked what the special was, but when the rest got there the waitress came back over and still didn't know what was in the special that was listed. She then took appetizer orders and waited until they were ready to come out to come back and take dinner orders. We had to keep calling her to get drink refilled. 2 of us ordered turkey burgers and the waitress came back several minutes later to tell us the cook wasn't so sure about the turkey burgers and didn't want to serve us something that wasn't good. So she was going to double check about them. Nope. We changed our orders. We had been finished for 15 minutes or more before she asked if we wanted the check. She asked if we wanted to split it we said yes, 2 on one check and 3 on the other. She went and stood at the bar chatting for 10 minutes then came back as we started to walk out to tell us she didn't remember what everyone ordered so didn't know if the checks were right. They weren't right but we just paid then because we had been there for 2 hours....

My family and I visited this place. I haven’t visited this place in about 5 years. When we walked in the restaurant the first thing we noticed was that there were about 7 dirty tables. We didn’t know where to sit then the host showed up from the back and told us to wait as she was trying to clean the tables. When we sat the host took our drink orders and said she would have a waiter come to take our orders. Thirty minutes later and 5 waiters and staff walked by us with no acknowledgement. We kept looking around and the waiters saw us looking at them no one approached us so we got up and left. I don’t want to pull the racist card but I will. We were light skin Hispanics and everyone else there at that time was Caucasian. I walked right back to the host as she rushed towards me apologizing I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I told her that their service was rude and disgusting. My family and I will never go there again.
