Retro Fitness — Local services in Kenhorst

Unfortunately, I am giving Retro Fitness 2 stars. The facility is extremely clean and the restrooms and changing area were almost always spotless. But their customer service was not ok at all. I came into cancel my membership 2 weeks before my 30 day notice was due, but I was going to be out of state so wanted to make sure I had everything in order to cancel before leaving. It was a Saturday morning so management wasn’t there, but I was told just to come back when I got back from vacation and it shouldn’t be an issue. I got back from vacation and went back to make sure the cancellation had been done. I signed a paper, and I specifically said if I going to be charged for another month can someone call me. No one ever called, but yet I was charged anyway.

Another month of paying for a gym I went above and beyond to make sure I cancelled on time was disappointing but what was really the issue was: On my cancellation form I had put the reason for my cancellation was there were MULTIPLE times I had dropped my children off for childcare and the sitter was on the phone or watching her iPad. I eventually became uncomfortable leaving my littlest kids in there. When the manager read my reason he replied: “no one has complained in 3.5 years about our childcare and I mean your only paying so much a month what can you expect?”...... Never I’m sorry this was your experience or even I will look into the issue. I was extremely disappointed. I felt like my reason wasn’t valid and definitely made to feel unimportant. I would give 10 stars if I could. We’ve been members for about a year or so and love it. Extremely clean and the knowledgeable staff is the best around! Friendly atmosphere with tons of free weights and equipment. A lot of classes offered too. Outside area to exercise and flip tires when the weather is nice or you need to cool off. The equipment is well maintained, I rarely see machines out of service, and they’re always adding new ones too. They have a smoothie bar (which you can even earn free smoothies by banking points from check ins!) and a cooler with tons of drinks and protein drinks for the days you forget to bring one (like me). I have the unlimited membership so I can bring a guest with each visit which is awesome too! All the members we’ve met are so nice and helpful, especially with my 15 year old son. Retro fitness is a great club to join if you're looking to lose weight and feel supported. Whenever I've had questions, the staff at the front desk is so helpful and always has a smile on their faces. For the longest time I was checking in wrong and they politely walked me through where I was supposed to be scanning my card. It's intimidating to go into a gym when you're overweight and I was 30 lbs overweight after having my daughter. For some reason I didn't feel embarrassed to workout here, or like an outcast. They have multiple areas to lift weights, so if you don't want to be "front and center" you have multiple options of where you'd like to complete your workouts. I was able to confidently come here and lose all of my baby weight! Oh and the child watching is an added bonus!
