I used to LOVE number 1, they’ve always been a reliable location for Chinese food in Shillington/Kenhorst but recently they have gotten ridiculously expensive, to the point where it’s almost funny. I dropped almost $70 for like 2 eggrolls, 4 rices, spare ribs and an orange chicken for a small gathering , I could’ve gone to a legitimate restaurant, hell even Jade Garden or that place in reading and paid half of what I did at Number 1.
But guess what, it gets better, to top it off, to add salt in the wound (in my wallet), when you get to the counter, they have the nerve to ask for a TIP on the little kiosk. A TIP, for the overly expensive meal WHICH I DROVE TO GET (uh hello?), with less than zero service involved from any of the employees, besides grabbing the bag of food. Don’t bother wasting your money here when you can get cheaper, and larger quantities of food at literally any other Chinese food Place in PA. I’ll change my review once their food is remotely affordable.
(Edit) Just read the owner's comments on my comment, I genuinely hope the managment of this place has stepped up their professionality. Failing to take accountability for poor buisness practice is pretty lame, I'm not sure in what universe inflation means you need to need to exorbanantly raise your prices while also cramming tips down your customer's throats, however you shouldn't burden customers with your poor planning and execution of your buisness operations. The person responding said that the tip prompt on their kiosks is mandatory, don't believe this, most buisness owners who are familiar with their point of sales system will know that you are able to turn this off from the back end. This is all poor excuses for poor ownership, especially when other chinese resturaunts in the area don't do the same, disgraceful. But hey no sweat off my back, I now go to Great China, they're priced...
Read moreThe food is great but the staff is rude. Very short on the phone, interrupting you when you talk. It's one guy in particular that is rude and doesn't respond well to questions about the food. One time my girlfriend was rudely told, "that doesn't make sense" when asking for general tso without fried rice. Another occasion the same guy called my girlfriends phone to tell us that the store will be closing soon, to come and pick up the food; (I was literally in the parking lot) She told him that I was on my way, she had know idea whether I was there yet or not. Why is it that this guy responds with, "Well tell him to hurry up." It was 10:22PM and they close at 10:30PM. It is as though they do not appreciate the customer. Granted they will apologize via an intruding text on your private number or comment underneath a bad review after you have told them about themselves, however the negative actions should never have occurred in the first place.
Also just for the record, if a business is rude on more than 3 occasions it is not a "misunderstanding." You need to take responsibility for your actions along with some lessons in costumer service because at the end of the day the costumer is what maintains a...
Read moreAll I can say is this is the best Chinese food I've had in the state of Pennsylvania and Ive ate at Chinese spots from one end of the state to the other!! Their shrimp fried rice, heavenly. The fried chicken wings, divine. You can tell when you eat their food they put effort into it, not subpar ingredients like other places. Also the cleanest Chinese food restaurant Ive ever been to. Sure the prices are a little higher but you get what you pay for here. There was a point when I was eating here like 3 times a week a never once was sick, no stomach aches. If you want excellent Chinese food give this place a try, they have this good a rating for a reason!!
I moved from the reading area around a year ago. Whenever I make the 3 hour drive back I make sure I stop here and get some wings, shrimp fried rice and some chicken broccoli. The Chinese spot in my new town is ok but it just doesn't stack up...
