Brew City Kitchen & Cocktails — Restaurant in Dallas

3/31/24 We had a reservation but had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated way after our arrival time but we didn’t complain once. We were actually excited. Mind you it was not busy yet and where we were placed no one was there the tables were vacant.

We had a party of 5 and we were had an amazing time. Our waitress Whitney was nice, courteous and attentive.

As it became more busy the service wasn’t as great due to Whitney having a few other busy tables. We had to ask for things several times due to her forgetting or bringing the wrong thing. For instance we asked for more water and more napkins. She took the water pitcher and forgot to bring it back. We reminded her and she brought it back with cups instead of napkins..

We purchased 2 mimosa towers for $75 each plus all the food we ate. We constantly asked for water due to pitcher being empty. No one ever said anything about a table time nor reminded us.

As soon as we paid for our food a lady I’m assuming was the host and over the waitress started immediately grabbing things off our table. She started with the tower which we just emptied and a few ladies still had full glasses. They started removing things we were not done with. One of my friends was upset asking, “so I can’t finish finish my drink”? My friend was advised that she could be seated at the bar. We also all gave good tips on top of the 20% gratuity that was charged person at our table.

It wasn’t a good look in fact all the tables near us were looking because how it was handled caused attention. I spoke to the lady and inquired about what the problem was. I advised that it was embarrassing and very unprofessional. I also advised that it wasn’t what was said rather how it was said and the actions that followed. We were all mature women at our table ages 45 & up. We were very respectful. It was never mentioned to us about a time. I wasn’t aware of a table time until I started mentioning about how she was handling us was disappointing and unprofessional. She advised that they have a 90 minute table limit and they had people waiting. Her tone and her disposition was very sarcastic and was not warranted nor appreciated.

This turned an amazing outing into a terrible one. Customer Service was a fail at this point. There clearly needs to be more training on how to handle such situations.

My partner had her birthdate brunch here the year prior. We loved it so much we came back. We also spread the word about how awesome the place was.

If what happened yesterday was my first experience I would have never returned. I would also have not promoted the place.

This may change anything but it needs to be known when negativity is brought about from your business you would want to fix it. Many leave and tell others about the bad expand the company never gets wind of the situation. I’m the one that will leave a revues with the hopes that changes will be made or addressed.

Word to the Consumer…. If you are NOT done or ready to leave yet DO NOT PAY UNTIL YOU ARE. They want put you out until they have your money. They no longer have to be nice was how we were...

As someone who witnessed the interaction firsthand, I feel it is important to provide additional context to Ms. Gigi Mc’s review. The male employee mentioned in her account raised his voice only because her group was seated near the DJ area, where the music made it challenging to communicate without speaking louder. This was clearly a practical necessity, not an act of aggression or unprofessionalism.

What Ms. Mc’s review fails to mention is that she appeared to exaggerate her response by mimicking symptoms of distress, seemingly to garner sympathy from the staff and escalate the situation. Despite this, the staff remained professional and courteous, offering compensation as a gesture of goodwill. However, Ms. Mc rejected this offer, deeming it inadequate, and insisted that the male employee face disciplinary action.

Additionally, Ms. Mc’s group of over 15 individuals engaged in behavior that could be described as antagonistic throughout their visit, making belittling remarks such as calling the employee “sassy” and saying, “We’re going to make you an honorary sister.” One member even returned after leaving the establishment to request a cup of water, reportedly intending to throw it at the staff member as they exited.

Ms. Mc’s review omits these critical details, presenting a skewed and misleading version of the events. From my observation, the staff handled this challenging situation with grace, patience, and a high level of professionalism.

Beyond this, I must highlight the incredible ambiance of the restaurant. With its hip-hop brunch concept, it feels like a modern-day family reunion—welcoming, vibrant, and full of positive energy. The music sets the tone for a lively yet inclusive environment where everyone feels at home. The decor is stunning, with the centerpiece being a striking portrait of Nipsey Hussle, a beautiful and inspiring staple that adds depth and character to the space.

I also had the pleasure of being served by a staff member named Devar, who was incredibly attentive, friendly, and professional, enhancing the entire dining experience. The restaurant even offers a special touch with photographers on-site, capturing candid and posed moments of the guests. These photos can be printed, framed, and provided on demand, creating a lovely keepsake of your visit.

As for the food, the shrimp and grits are nothing short of extraordinary. The grits are creamy and buttery, serving as the perfect base for shrimp cooked to absolute perfection—tender, juicy, and seasoned with bold spices that pack a flavorful punch. The crab cakes are another highlight, with a delicate, flaky texture and just the right amount of seasoning, paired with a crisp golden crust that gives way to pure seafood bliss. Every bite feels like a celebration of culinary excellence, making this restaurant an essential stop for any foodie.

This is my first time going to Brew City. I was really excited about all the activities the Valentines flyer was offering to be disappointed that the waitress Whitney knew nothing about them. We were seated in the booth I reserved and was pleasantly surprised by the vibe. Well it went down hill from there. We ordered our food along with an appetizer (bang bang shrimp) there was no bang although good. We recieved our appetizer two minutes before our meal came out. We had to ask for eating utensils and low and behold I'm spending money just to receive plastic wear in a to go plastic wrapper. Atleast if it's plastic do the ones that are wrapped in nice napkins. So my lobster was clearly burnt so that was a disappointment. I can't imagine the Cooks don't care enough not to send burnt food out. The sides were not hot, they seemed to have been sitting out in bowls waiting to go out. I told our waitress Whitney so she took the lobster back when she brought me a new one she dang near threw it on the table and took off. Didn't ask if it was better or anything. When she decided to come back we asked for dressing for the salad and cocktail sauce for the shrimp. Well 10 mins later she dropped some small containers off and took off again. When she reappeared I informed her that what she brought us for the shrimp is salsa not cocktail sauce. Whitney said oh we don't have cocktail sauce. So you didn't think it was important to tell me that there is nothing to dip my "bang bang" dry shrimp in. We ordered another drink and again Whitney disappeared for almost 20 min. coming back with NO drink. We asked her and she was like oh let me see if it's ready. If it is its going to be watered down. At this point we were done and asked for our ticket. Oh let me back up. On one of Whitney's disappearing acts she was supposed to get information about the advertised events, we never got any information. I think Whitney wanted to show off her new sparkling booty shorts and to show how she would be great as a side act to a magic show! The mac and cheese was good would have been better if it was hot and not dry. The greens were really flavorful. The lobster tail was salty. I really hate the experience I had. I think if our waitress had been a little bit more attentive than the experience would have been better. It seems that what I dealt with is an ongoing issue with the establishment so maybe it's not a big deal because people are still coming rather it's their first and last or they are regulars the money is still coming in.
